“Dave McLeod Memorial” Western New York 360 Sprint Car Shoot-Out only 2 weeks away.

Batavia, NY—August 8, 2007--By: Chris Rhynold, Media/Racer Relations Director

With only 2 weeks left until the “Dave McLeod Memorial” Western New York 360 Sprint Car Shoot-Out, things are really starting to take shape. Sprint Cars have been absent from the Genesee County Fairgrounds for over a decade and the August 25th event will bring sprint car racing back to Genesee Speedway. A race of this magnitude will be a show to remember.

Mike Lauterborn thought it would be fitting to name the trophy and event after friend and sprint racer Dave McLeod who past away this past year. McLeod raced all over New York and Ontario and was a friend to many and competed as a racer and car owner with many of the racers that will take part in the return of the sprints.

All of the touring sprint car clubs are off the night of the WNY 360 Shoot-Out which will bring in some of the most talented 360 Sprint Car racers from New York, Ontario and maybe a couple of invaders from Pennsylvania. Competitors from ASCS Patriots, Empire Super Sprints, Southern Ontario Sprints and the Humberstone Bi-Weekly program will all be on hand.

The event will be a time trialed event with a scramble dash presented by Pro-Syn Technologies. So far Jeff VanDusen, Bubby Kerrick and George Suprick are qualified drivers for the scramble and the final 3 remaining scramble drivers will be decided in the next 2 weeks with a racer qualifying by winning events at Brighton Speedway on August 11, Humberstone Speedway on August 12 and Canandaigua on August 18. The Genesee Speedway Bobcat of Buffalo Street Stocks and Dickinson’s Auto Service Mini Stock will be the support classes for the night. The winner of the event will cash in on a $2,000 payday.

Following the races Clor’s will be hosting a Chicken Barbeque until Midnight.
