The Mid-Atlantic Championship Series presents a huge $120,000 Labor Day weekend extravaganza beginning at DIRT Motorsports’ Lernerville Speedway, Sarver, PA, Friday, August 31 and concludes with two straight nights of action at the Coleman families’ Portsmouth Raceway Park, Portsmouth, OH on Saturday and Sunday September 1 and 2.
Lernerville, under the Directorship of Gary Risch, Jr., open the high octane weekend at the immaculate, semi-banked speed plant for the Cleveland Brothers CAT 50 paying $5,000 to-win show from the $32,700 minimum purse. Last season, the Series had both attempts at the Butler County oval rained out.

The average car count at these events has been 48. Also appearing on the card will be All-Star Circuit of Champions for the Sonia Bullis Memorial as well as the Advance Auto Parts Pure Stocks.
Pit gates open at 4:00 p.m. with general admission seating available at 5:00 p.m.; a MACS driver meeting is at 6:15 with hot laps to follow at 6:30-6:45. Time Trials are slate for 7:00 p.m. with racing immediately following. General Admission prices are: $20 for 17 years & above; Senior Citizen’s $17.00; 11 thru 16 years $15; 10 and under FREE; reserved seating is an additional $2.00. Then the MACS troubadours head southwest to Portsmouth Raceway Park for two straight nights. Tim Coleman and crew always have their family owned facility in spotless condition. PRP is a spacious high-banked 3/8 mile, clay oval situated directly beside the Ohio River in historic Portsmouth. Saturday’s “Rumble on the River 50” pays $5,000 to-win from minimum $32,700 purse. Also on the card are the Modifieds (E-Mods) and Bomber’s.

Sunday dawns day two of the PRP weekend featuring another complete MACS show that will climax with the “Glockner Toyota Tundra 75” paying $10,000 to-win from the $53,000 purse. Also appearing will be the Limited Late Models and Modifieds (E-Mods). Also at 5:15-6:00 p.m. will be a MACS Late Model driver autograph session behind the main grandstand area toward the turn one side of the speedway.

The slate of drivers anticipated for both shows include MACS regular and 2006 Champion, Racin’ Jason Covert; current MACS points leader “Hot Rod” Rod Conley; 2005 Champion the “Floodwall Flyer”, Mike Balzano; 2004 and 2002 Champions, the Titusville Terror”, Robbie Blair and the “Flyin’ School Teacher”, Jack Pencil; the winningest MACS driver in 2006, Jeremy Miller; as well as Jim Bernheisel, and Doug Drown, in addition to 2007 MACS ROY contenders Matt Lux, Cluck Clise and Dan Stone.
Each regular MACS event consist of AlturnaMats® “Shock the Clock” time trials presented by Sue Stevenson Photography, AlturnaMats® “Dash King” competition presented by WRISCO Aluminum; heats are presented by Bud Watson’s Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic (HTMA) and Hoosier Racing Tires; Lias Tire Racing Division/American Racer; Dave Poske Performance Parts/Hoosier Tire Ohio Valley and Rocket Chassis; ATL Fuel Cells and BERT Transmission; Mason Racin’ and GRT Chassis; Frankland Racing Supply and American Die Cast; King’s Jewelry/Artcarved; Pietragallo, Bosick & Gordon, Corporate Lawyers Pittsburgh and Design 500 Racewear; and the Sunoco Race Fuels 1st B Main presented by Bazell Fuels as well as the Warrior Race Cars 2nd B Main presented by Goddard Performance Parts. Other sponsors included Booze Brothers Racing and Country Candles. Lee Havlik’s Chase Decals; (IA) is providing a $100 gift certificate per event for the “Hard Luck” Award. Additionally Chase Decals will be providing $800 gift certificate for the MACS 2007 Champion as well as for the MACS ROY and the driver in the top 10 with the worst luck of the season. Genesis Shocks will be providing $200 gift certificates to the fast qualifier of the Sunday program at PRP.
Duralite Wheels, (OK) are awarding six new aluminum wheels to drivers in the final top ten of points. Four wheels will be standard late model aluminum wheels while the two will be beadlock wheel. ACPT Carbon Fiber Drive Shafts (CA) will be awarding a new customized carbon fiber drive shaft to one of the drivers in the final top ten of points. Ron “Flea” Fleenor’s Custom Helmet Art (NC) is providing a customized helmet paint job for the champion as well as the MACS ROY.
Jamie Christy’s Impact Graphics (KY) will be picking ten races providing $100 gift certificate for the “Quick Time Award” and if that same driver that sets fast time is able to win that night’s feature s/he will earn an additional $100 gift certificate. Impact will also provide a complete decal job for the 5th place finisher in the final points standings valued at $800 as well as a $250 gift certificate to the 7th place finisher in the final points standings. |
