Sprint Car Twin Bill at I-80 Speedway on Tuesday Night!

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (August 13, 2007) – This week's racing action gets off to an early start with the O'Reilly Sprint Bandits Tour 'N Topless series as well as the American Sprint Car Series Midwest Region taking to Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE, on Tuesday night.

The event marks the first of a five-race swing for the popular Sprint Bandits TNT series and the first of four nights of the "AK 360 Shootout", as in "After Knoxville", for ASCS Regional competitors.

Reigning Sprint Bandits TNT champion Jesse Hockett of Warsaw, MO, leads a stellar field of the nation's top 410-ci wingless warriors in Tuesday's card, with other top competitors including last year's USAC/CRA champion Cory Kruseman of Ventura, CA, 2006 Ultimate Challenge winner Jerry Coons, Jr., of Tucson, AZ, past National champion Dave Darland of Lincoln, IN, Damion Gardner of Concord, CA, local favorite Don Droud, Jr., of Lincoln, NE, and defending race winner Robert Ballou of Rocklin, CA.

Approximately 25 different drivers from throughout the county have announced intentions to vie for the Third Annual O'Reilly Sprint Bandits TNT Midwest Swing championship, with countless others expected to take in selected legs of the five-night stretch of races.

Following Tuesday night's Huskerland Non-Wing Sprint Car Nationals at I-80 Speedway, TNT moves on to Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville, OK, on Wednesday night before tackling the cozy confines of Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, OK, on Thursday night. The week culminates with the annual Lakeside Speedway Non-Wing spectacular on Friday and Saturday, with the August 18 Ron Shuman Classic winner pocketing $10,000.

Leading the winged forces of the ASCS Midwest Region into Tuesday night's event is Natalie Sather of Fargo, ND, who can move one step closer to becoming the first female in ASCS history to capture a series championship.

Sather holds an 86 point lead over defending series champion Toby Chapman of Lincoln, NE, in the title chase, with Lincoln's Jason Danley 41 more points back in third. South Dakota's Chuck Swenson, currently leading ASCS Northern Plains Region points after winning last year's title, is fourth, with the winningest driver in ASCS Midwest Region history, Brian Brown of Grain Valley, MO, rounding out the current top five.

The "AK 360 Shootout" shifts into ASCS Northern Plains mode following Tuesday's I-80 Speedway card with action at Hartford, South Dakota's I-90 Speedway on Wednesday and then Minnesota's Jackson Nationals on Friday and Saturday.

Tuesday's racing action at Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway is slated for 7:00 p.m.

Nebraska Raceway Park's I-80 Speedway is located between Lincoln and Omaha off I-80 Exit 420, then 0.4 miles north on SR 63 then west. For more information, contact the track at 402-944-2233 or 402-342-3453.
