Canandaigua Speedway to Host ASCS Patriots This Saturday

Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (August 14, 2007)- A big weekend for the ASCS Patriots as the winged warriors return to the “Land of Legends” with plenty on the line.

The Canandaigua Speedway, which has hosted more ASCS Patriot races than everyone other than Black Rock, will host their ninth event at the big ½-mile to treat the fans to the fastest speeds of the season.

Back in June, when the track was super fast, the fastest laps of the night were in the 14-second bracket with the fastest lap time averaging 123 mph. You can be assured that the engines will once again be making some serious horsepower this Saturday evening.

Not only will the winner of the 25-lap feature pick up $1,500, with contributions made by Shuttleworth Asphalt Sealing, Red Bear Hand Cleaner and Mike Emhof Motorsports, they will also have a guaranteed spot in the Pro-Syn Oil Technology Scramble Dash at the Genesee Speedway the following Saturday. George Suprick earned the first qualifier for the ASCS Patriots at Ransomville.

This will also be the sixth race of the season for the A-Verdi Storage Containers King of Central New York Seven Race Series. Jason Barney, the winner of the first ASCS Patriot race at Canandaigua, currently holds a 10-point advantage over Chuck Hebing and is just 20 points ahead of Jared Zimbardi, with just two races remaining.

Speaking of Hebing and Zimbardi, those two will also continue to duke it out for 2007 Overall Championship, with “Cobra” currently holding a 12-point lead over the impressive Zimbardi. While Hebing has three career sprint wins at Canandaigua, it was Zimbardi who was runner-up to Jason Barney back in June, with “Cobra” suffering motor problems and falling out of the top-10.

Along with Hebing, George Suprick also has three career wins at the Ontario County Fairgrounds. Both of the drivers won their first career ASCS race at the wide and flat ½-mile oval.

The Breen Brothers, Blake and Bobby, are also in the mix for the A-Verdi King of CNY Crown. The Savannah, NY drivers were strong back in June and have always been up near the front, the same can be expected this time around.

Ray Preston still sits third in the overall point standings and is sixth in the King of CNY Points. The driver from just down the road in Romulus will be back to pick up his first career win at one of his “home tracks”.

Jessica Zemken was third in the thrilling 25-lap feature seven weeks ago and is still in the mix, sitting eighth in the King of CNY Standings. Zemken looks to bring a new power plant to the Canandaigua Speedway this Saturday.

A host of other competitors such as Don Adamczyk, Chris Muhleisen, Dave Wickham, Rookies Scott Kreutter, Coleman Gulick and Jared Fink, plus a host of drivers from Canada will expect to invade the speedway.
