Big Three Race Weekend North of the Border Await the Stars and Cars from the Empire Super Sprints: Two Events Pay $2,000 to win.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After a well deserved two weeks off, the very best to wheel a winged sprint car in the Northeastern United States and Canada are ready for three big Lucas Oil Canadian Invasion Series events showcasing the Empire Super Sprints (ESS). The tour brought to you by Jacobs Motorsports will visit Autodrome Edelweiss Speedway on Friday, followed by the Brockville Ontario Speedway and a return to the Cornwall Motor Speedway to make up the July 15 rain out.
Heading into the big three race weekend finds Quebec’s Steve Poirier leading the overall point standings with three time Lucas Oil Series winner Jeff VanDusen on top of the Canadian Invasion Points. These top stars along with Lance Yonge, Jeff Cook, Michael Parent, Alain Bergeron, Mike Stelter, Bubby Kerrick, Tommy Wickham, Cory Sparks, Normand Beaudreault, Brian McDonald and many, many others will be on hand all three nights looking for the checkered flag.
Back in July, Cook took his first of two A-Main triumphs so far in 2007 with a victory at Edelweiss. Once again the Northwood 2 Construction A-Main will award the winner $2,000 and Cook will have a full field on hand looking to stop him from a season sweep. La Pepiniere du Golf located in nearby Gatineau, Quebec will pick up the sponsorship of the nightly dash in what expects to be another standing room only crowd at Serge Lagace’ fine speed plant.
The next night it will be back into Ontario for the only visit to the Brockville Ontario Speedway, the quick quarter-mile oval located in the beautiful town of Brockville. With LaSalle Motorsports picking up the sponsorship of the nightly dash it will be a big night for both the overall and Lucas Oil point standings.
Back on July 15th, 25 sprints filled the pits at the Cornwall Motor Speedway. Unfortunately, the A-Main winner was Mother Nature, who has claimed three victories in 2007. But, this Sunday works as a perfect rain date and the winged warriors will be back for another chance at $2,000 in the A-Main sponsored by West Front Construction. The LaSalle family will again sponsor the Walt’s Hobby Dash Series event with Poirier leading Bergeron and Cook in the dash points.
Fans and competitors alike should note the new starting time of 6 PM as three features from the week prior will be made up making for a full night of dirt action on one of the fastest quarter-miles you will ever see.
Three big nights, two Canadian provinces, the Lucas Oil Canadian Invasion Series will be highlighted at Edelweiss, Brockville and Cornwall. As it has been the Empire Super Sprint tradition for 25 years, it will be excitement guaranteed!!
