TOP THREE SPOTS LOCKED IN FOR MERRITTVILLE’S

100 LAP KONZELMANN ESTATE WINERY ENDURO –

RACE FAR FROM OVER THOUGH AS SURVIVAL

COUNTS MORE THAN STARTING SPOT

For Immediate Release - August 16, 2007 - From Jim Irvine - Merrittville Public Relations - 905-892-8266

Thorold, Ontario (August 15) In last fall’s 100 lap Konzelmann Estate Winery Enduro, Dan MacNeil came from 62nd starting spot to win the event. This year – he’ll try to become the first repeat winner – with a third place starting spot by winning the most recent TRW Enduro Qualifier.

MacNeil joins the May 21st Financial Care Group Winner Tim McIntosh and June 30th’s Boltworks Winner James Mercer as the three drivers who will start from the first three spots in the 2007 Season Finale Sunday September 9th.

Mercer was 5th in last year’s event as well and ironically McIntosh, Mercer and MacNeil would have been assured top starting spots without winning the qualifiers – they were the first three paid entries on file. The trio had positions 4, 5 and 6 locked up before the racing season even started.

After the three qualifiers, the balance of the field that was 114 strong last season are all lined up by order of registration.

“There’s nothing like Enduro Racing,” relates (GM) Erica Bicknell, “ drivers with no experience … some that have run this type of event before and even some of our regular Saturday Night competitors … but in the end it’s more survival than experience that counts … look at Dan … he came from 62nd to win last year.”

Enduro Racing at Merrittville was quite prevalent many years ago and made a return in 2004. While regular L. St. Amand Enterprises 358 Modified competitor Dan Miller won that event, second year winner Dave Walters and MacNeil have only Enduro experience.

Enduro Rules for the season ending 100 lap Konzelmann Estate Winery event are available from the Speedway office during the week or on line from www.merrittvillespeedway.com.

“It’s pretty basic,” adds Bicknell, “ it’s a street car with safety modifications – everything else is stock as you found it … an Enduro car is not a race car – it’s a car that races.”

Depending on what happens in any of the qualifiers, a competitor could use the same car in more than one event.

In the 100 lap event Sunday September 9th, the winner will receive $1,000 with $400, $300, $200 and $100 going to the balance of the top 5. A $200 Bonus has been posted to go to the first driver in the top 5 that has a roll cage in his or her car also.

The 100 lap event is open to both Men and Women; however the Sunday Season Finale also features a Queens event for Ladies only.

The 100 lap Konzelmann Enduro caps off the J & S Heating Weekend featuring the Rose Webber Memorial.

Top Mod Lite and Classic Drivers from across North America look forward to the fall event and challenging the Lucas Oil Open Wheel Lite Merrittville regulars.

The 2nd Annual Duel on the Dirt Challenge featuring Merrittville’s Hoosier Stocks against the Brighton Speedway Pro Stocks and an Open Street Stock will also highlight the Friday and Saturday Night portions – September 7th & 8th.

Saturday’s Event also features the Original Pizza Logs Sportsmen in a 50 lap Super DIRTcar Series Event that will bring in top drivers from across the circuit as well.
