Black Rock Media Race Line-Up Set for August 24
By Rich Vleck, DUNDEE, NY, (August 17 , 2007)- Black Rock’s 15 front-wheel drive 4-cylinders are about to be lent out to a bunch of guys that have almost no racing experience: this has to be watched.
What started out as an announcer’s race has turned into the first ever media race, featuring a number of personalities from around the area. With the cars being owned by the speedway, the path has been cleared for full-fledged craziness on Friday, August 24.
At the half-way point of he full car racing program, 15 competitors will jump into the new Hoselton Automotive FWD 4-cylinder enduro vehicles to battle for 20-laps around the Black Rock Speedway. The winner will most importantly walk away with the bragging rights.
Included in the competitors are the four voices heard each Friday at the Black Rock Speedway: announcers Greg Birosh and Rich Vleck, trackside reporter Dan Turner and Rocky the Race Clown. The edge in this group goes to Birosh, or so he says.
The radio personalities will also be out in full force, including Doug Elkins from DougsDirtDiary.com, Steve Kellogg of Life In the Fast Lane and ringer Doug Mattison from WFLR’s Track Talk, who will join his producer’s Lucas Day and Chuck Smith.
There will also be a number of writers from around the area, including Kevin Cole of the Dundee Observer, Chris Gill from the Corning Leader and Dave Medler from the Gater Racing News.
The race will also feature Black Rock Speedway Webmaster Mark Sincock, Photographer Jay Fish and Joe Patrick from Gater News. The field is subject to change.
Racing action will get underway at 6:45 p.m. on Friday, August 24. Adult General Admission for this event is just $10. For more information, visit www.BlackRockSpeedway.com.
