Wright and Chaddock pick up first’s of year as Pratt, Maxwell, Stefanski and Hixenbaugh all make return visits to victory lane. Poveski scores Regional International Pro Truck Feature.

Terry Poveski cruised to a win as he controlled the Regional International Pro Truck race by holding off Ken Houck. In the sportsman division the night was clearly Justin Wright’s night although Rob Pratt was the winner of the 2nd sportsman feature. Wright won the 1st of 2 features for the sportsman class and was the big mover in the 2nd feature as he was posting lap times a half a second faster that the top 3 cars. Pratt finally shook some of the cobwebs out of his sportsman after having a couple of rough weeks adapting to a crate engine, but rumor has it Pratt’s 2006 Bicknell Chassis will be sporting a new open motor being built by Paul Gavenda. Justin Chaddock used no mans land to make the race winning pass enroute to the winners circle in the 360 Late Models. Ken Hixenbaugh (Mini Stock), Pete Stefanski (Pro Stock) and Jeff Maxwell (Street Stock) all made return visits to victory lane.
Troyer Race Cars Sportsman Division Feature #1 from the held over race from the Russ Prentice Memorial Night was the first to hit the speedway. John Baker took the lead and ran uncontested until lap 13 when John Venuto started to contend for the lead. Caution would hit the speedway on lap 14 for a spinning John Panattoni. On the restart Justin Wright bolted to the runner up spot by Venuto and would steal the lead from John Baker on lap 15 and start to check out on the field leaving Baker and Venuto battling for the 2nd spot. Baker would slip up on lap 20 giving the position to Venuto. Rob Pratt would now begin to challenge Baker for the 3rd spot. Baker would hug the low groove giving no opportunity to Pratt. Justin Wright would go on to pick up his 1st Genesee Speedway feature win of the season.
Dan Norton and Ed Neal would set the front row of the Dickinson’s Auto Service Mini Stock feature. Norton would take the early lead followed by Ken Hixenbaugh as they both began to pull away from the field. Norton and Hixenbaugh would catch lap traffic on lap 8 and would bunch the top 2 up. The yellow lights would come on for a spinning Dan Virag allowing Russ Wassner, Ed Neal and Jason Hull to close the gap to the leaders. Again, Norton and Hixenbaugh would check out on the field. Hixenbaugh would use the high side to take the lead from Norton on lap 12. Yellow would again hit the speedway as Samantha Burch spun exiting turn 2. Just prior to the caution John Giles slammed the turn 4 wall hard sending the car airborne. Ken Hixenbaugh would go on to collect his 2nd feature at Genesee Speedway this season.
Heat Winners – Heat #1 – Ken Hixenbaugh, Heat #2 – Ed Neal.
Jeb Walworth and John Fry would set the front row for the Bobcat of Buffalo Street Stock feature. Walworth would jump to the early lead but was smoking heavily . Walworth’s night would come to an end on lap 2 as he pulled to the infield giving the lead to Jeff Maxwell. The red flag would hit the speedway on lap 4 as Matthew Pfalzer flipped his car entering turn 3. Pfalzer emerged from the car okay. Maxwell would continue to lead with Colton Chappius and Bill Weller chasing him for the top spot. Spicola would pull away from the 2nd pack and catch the lead pack as the top 4 spots would run nose to tail. Chappius made several attempts to make the pass on Maxwell for the lead but could never get the job done. As the leaders caught lap traffic Chappius would get to the inside of Maxwell as the two split the lap car of Carl Shetler. Weller mounted a challenge on Chappius but came up empty handed. Chappius would power away from Weller to retain his position. Caution would hit the speedway bunching up the field with 3 to go. Maxwell would get the jump on the restart running off on the field but would have it taken away as the yellow came out for a multi car crash in turn 4. Maxwell would go on to collect his 2nd feature win of the season.
Heat Winners – Heat #1 – Joey Spicola, Heat #2 – David Downs.
The Greenlief’s Restaurant Pro Stocks seen Mike Martin and Steve Lewis set the front row for the 20 lap main event. Mike Martin would take the early lead and Pete Stefanski bolted to the runner up spot. Stefanski who was clearly the fastest car on the speedway had to settle for his position as Mike Martin was running the preferred line. The Yellow lights would come on for a spin involving Dan Shoop, Dan Knolls, Don Barnes and John Zimmerman. Stefanski would use the high side to make the pass on the restart and checked out on the field to collect his 10th Genesee Speedway feature win of the season followed by Mike Martin and Steve Lewis.
Heat Winners – Heat #1 – Pete Stefanski, Heat #2 Steve Lewis.
Doug Buckley and Jason White would set the front row for the Regional International Pro Truck feature. Jason White jumped to the early lead as Doug Buckley and Ken Houck battled for the 2nd spot. A multi truck wreck on lap 2 would wipe out 3 of the pro trucks. Jason White would keep the lead but would later lose the lead as he jumped the cushion in turn 1 giving the lead to Terry Poveski. Houck would look to the inside but couldn’t complete the pass. Poveski would go on to score the win followed by Ken Houck and Jason White.
Heat Winner – Terry Poveski
John Venuto and Bill Hallett would pace the field for the Troyer Race Cars Sportsman feature #2. John Venuto would jump to the early lead followed by Rob Pratt and Don Spatorico. The top 3 would run out on the filed as Pratt could get to Venuto’s bumper but couldn’t mount a challenge. Venuto would slip up in turn 4 and Pratt jumped at the opportunity to take the lead on lap 11. Justin Wright was able to break away from the 2nd group and began to reel in the lead group. Wright was turning laps a half second faster than the lead group. Yellow would fly on lap 23 as Stubby Pangrazio and Jr. Green spun entering the 1st turn. The caution would set up a green, white, checker bunching up the field. Rob Pratt would go on to collect his 6th Genesee Speedway feature win of the season.
Heat Winners – Heat #1 – Bill Hallet, Heat #2 – John Venuto
Ron Mogavero would lead the field to the green for the BDK Construction Late Model feature event. Mogavero would jump to the early lead with Justin Chaddock and TJ Newton in tow. Chaddock was hammering the cushion for many laps and stole the lead from Mogavero on lap 7. Chaddock opened up a half straightaway lead over the field before the caution would come out for a spinning Dave DuBois. On the restart Chaddock would keep the lead but was being hounded by TJ Newton for the lead. Tim Kauffman had worked his way up to 3rd but never had anything for the leaders. TJ Newton made a last ditch effort to try and pass Chaddock but lost the handle and Justin Chaddock cruised to his 1st Genesee Speedway feature win of the season.
