KING KONG KORTE: Freedom Tour '07.
Highland, IL (August 17, 2007) Two time and defending United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) DIRTcar Late Model National Champion Randy Korte of Highland, IL has a lot more on his mind these days than just racing. Korte's oldest son, eighteen year old Dustin, is giving his dad a lot of reasons to be proud.
A few months ago, Dustin decided to put his racing career on hold while he pursued another goal, serving his country. Dustin left for boot camp back in June and on Friday, August 17th, Randy watched his son graduate from U.S. Army basic training at Ft. Knox, KY. Randy is very proud of his son and his decision to be a soldier. Randy and family only got to spend a few short hours with Dustin before he was put on a bus to Maryland to continue his Army training to be a mechanic. Once Dustin completes his three year enlistment in the Army, Randy will be more than ready to help Dustin get his racing career back in full swing.
Randy got a surprise of his own when he arrived at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL on Friday night. He was running late getting back into town from Ft. Knox and had his team meet him at the track with his car. However, his team members from Randy Korte Racing and Team Lucky Dog brought two racecars to the track, his normal car that he had prepared for the night's racing action along with a new car with a special paint scheme to honor his son Dustin. The graphics on the car include camouflage, US Army logos along with a special tribute to Dustin featuring his rank, name and Army unit. The team had also painted one of Randy's helmets to match his car's graphics.
Randy was able to thank his racing team in style as well. He led all twenty-five laps of the main event and brought his team back in victory in the night's super late model action at Tri-City Speedway! The 2007 racing season for Randy Korte has officially been dubbed the "King Kong Korte Freedom Tour".
