Eldora Announces Best Appearing Car & Crew Award for World 100.
ROSSBURG, OH (Aug. 20) – With the prominence and impact of the World 100 weekend at Eldora Speedway, many teams have used that event to debut new paint schemes. The concept has been successful in drawing attention to the teams and their sponsors.
Under that premise, this year’s 37th annual running of the famed event will see the unveiling of the Best Appearing Car and Crew award. To be voted upon by the media members in attendance, the award will carry a $500 cash bonus and plaque, as sponsored by www.dirtondirt.com. The recipient will be announced during Saturday’s (September 8) pre-race ceremonies, as the winning car and team will be rolled into victory lane and introduced to the crowd.
Eldora Speedway’s World 100 has become regarded as dirt Late Model’s premier event, with the trademarked ‘globed trophy’ of victory the most highly sought after prize within the sport. Recent years have seen in excess of 200 cars annually, as they attempt to crack the 28-car starting field. Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL is the defending champion.
The two-night event will find two rounds of single-lap time trials on Friday (Sept. 7), followed by the non-qualifier races for those drivers not qualifying amongst the 120 fastest. Saturday’s (Sept. 8) format will see six 20-car heat races, 2 B-Mains and the highly anticipated World 100, with 100 laps of racing around Eldora’s notorious one-half mile clay oval.
Event information is available online at www.eldoraspeedway.com or by calling the track office at (937) 338-3815.
