WILLIAMS GROVE SPRINT CARS AND URC AUGUST 24
MECHANICSBURG, PA -- The URC sprint cars return to Williams Grove
Speedway on Friday evening, August 24, and Ed Aiken has established
himself as the man to beat.
As usual, the Williams Grove sprint cars will headline the card.
The first heat is scheduled to start at 8:00.
There will be no time trials.
Aiken held off a stellar field on August 3 and collected $4000 for
winning the Shop Drop 360 Nationals at Williams Grove.
There were some serious challengers chasing the URC star throughout
the 25-lap test. Chad Layton, a two-time limited sprint champ at the
Grove with 14 victories, finished a close second to Aiken.
Kramer Williamson, a former Williams Grove and URC champion, who
owns a combined 86 victories at the Grove and with URC, pressured Aiken
during the middle stages, but settled for third place at the finish.
Pat Cannon, Williams Grove's current limited (358 c.i.) point
leader with four wins, came home fourth in the Shop Drop Nationals and
Selinsgrove champion Blane Heimbach completed the top five.
In addition to those drivers, Lucas Wolfe, back from a strong
Knoxville Nationals showing, along with defending URC champion Curt
Michael and defending Williams Grove 358 champ Cory Haas, should make
the URC portion of the August 24 program very interesting.
Williams Grove Speedway will close the month of August with an all
stock car program on Saturday the 25th, featuring limited late models,
street stocks, 4-cylinder stock cars and a 50-lap enduro, followed by an
August 31 program featuring twin 20-lap features for sprint cars.
Reserved seats are still available for the Cleveland Brothers
National Open, which will pay $50,000 to win. Credit card orders for
the September 28-29 National Open weekend are accepted at 717.697.5000.
