TRUCKER’S APPRECIATION NIGHT TO FEATURE HOTLY CONTESTED MODIFIED POINT BATTLE PLUS STREET STOCK SERIES AT BREWERTON SPEEDWAY THIS FRIDAY
BREWERTON, NY – Professional DIRTcar Motorsports stock car racing returns to Brewerton Speedway this Friday August 24 on Trucker’s Appreciation Night. All truckers with a valid CLD license will be admitted for half price to the grandstand area. In race action on the smooth and tacky “D-Shaped DIRT Demon” will be the DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds in a hotly contested track championship battle, IMCA Modifieds, ESDCA Mod Lites, 4-Cylinder Super Stocks, and the rain-delayed Mr. DIRTcar Street Stock Super Series event from June 8. Race time at the popular track is set for 7:30pm.
The DIRTcar Modified division has a points battle for the track title likely to go down to the last lap on the final point night of August 31. Alan Johnson, now driving the 358-powered Deek Decker Deuce at Brewerton, recently took over the point lead from Willy Decker who did not finish the last race on August 10. Decker is just eleven points behind Johnson who is looking for his fifth track championship in the last six seasons. Third in the standings is young Pennsylvania driver Kevin Bates who has been a model of consistency this season. Chuck Bower and Jim Witko are the remainder of the top five and have a mathematical shot at the top prize. Without a doubt, drivers will be racing for every point possible in the last 2 point races at the track, which is now prepared weekly by Jeremie Corcoran.
Kevan Cook leads the IMCA Modified point standings with national points leader Dale Caswell within striking distance. Pete Anderson, Greg Kimball, and Rich Riggs are the remainder of the top five. Dan Williams leads the ESDCA Mod Lite points but brother Doug is just eleven points back. The brothers will battle for the track title as the final stretch of points racing begins. Claude Hutchings Jr. is looking for his first ever track title in the 4-Cylinder Super Stocks as is Josh Herbert in the 4-Cylinder Enduros.
The Mr. DIRTcar Street Stock Super Series will return to Brewerton Speedway after a rain-delayed event on June 8. Nearly 30 cars were on hand at the previous show, and yet another tremendous field is expected with names such as Dave Mannise, Dan Hofmann, Ron Hawker, Dave Bruno, Nathan Peckham, Steve Woodworth, Gary Barton, and Nick Rizzo.
The gates this Friday August 24 at Brewerton Speedway on Trucker’s Appreciation Night will open at 5:30pm with racing beginning at 7:30pm. Admission prices are set at $12 for Adults, $5 for ages 10-14, and children 9 and under are free with a paid adult. All truckers with a valid CDL license will be admitted half price to the grandstand area in appreciation of their efforts. Pit admission is $20 for DIRT/IMCA Members and $25 for Non-Members.
