MORSE PREPARES FOR FULL-SCALE ASSAULT IN 07/08

Reigning Australian V8 Dirt Modified Champion Tim Morse has committed to full-scale assault in season 2007/08 after running somewhat limited campaigns for the past three seasons. Morse will be looking to snare his fifth Australian Title at his home track in Warrnambool this coming February.

“I’m going to put in a pretty fair dinkum effort this year” explained Morse. “I’m really keen to have a big go and do 20 plus meetings this year. Compared to only 7 last year, 6 the year before and about 8 the year before that. The last few years have been pretty half hearted in terms of preparation and actual laps on the track. Last year we didn’t even finish building the car till the Saturday morning of the first race! But we will be very well prepared this year”

While indicating his likely participation in the second running of the Summer Slam Series, Morse is also planning to make a few more appearances in NSW and Queensland this coming season, something that is sure to be welcome news to both promoters and spectators in the north.

“I’m going to race a bit more up north this year. We’re going to try and commit to a few races up in Queensland. If everything goes to plan, and I’ve already spoken to a few promoters, I think we’ll be up there a bit more this year”

“It’s an expensive game” said Morse. “We’ve got a fuel sponsor (Lane Transport) again this year and that’s the biggest key to getting us up north again. It costs us $1,150 to drive up to Lismore. So it’s a fairly expensive trip, and that’s before you even take the car out of the truck!”

The last time Morse launched a full-scale assault on the calendar, he swept all before him, scoring wins at virtually every track. With the likes of Mark Robinson, Steven Milthorpe, Scott Cannon, Luke Oldfield & Lloyd Hobson just a few of the gun drivers who have stepped up their program of late, competition amongst the V8 Dirt Modified elite is sure to reach unprecedented levels this coming season.
