Shayne Pierce “Pierces” Thru Competition on Metro Collision

Night at The New Humberstone Speedway



Shayne Pierce was out on a mission Sunday night at The New Humberstone Speedway on Metro Collision night. Pierce who had to work his way skillfully thru a very talented group of racers to win his first ever Brians Tire Repair Streetstock win. Pierce who took the lead from veteran Bill Hogue on lap 17, when the 48H seemed to be slowing down due to a right rear flat. The 117 of Rick Beales was able to pass by Cody McPherson when on the last lap, Cody seemed to go straight off on one of the turns. Top 5 were Shayne Pierce, Rick Beales, Kevin Knapp, Vince Fargnoli and Steve Robison. (Heat Winners were Bill Hogue and Vince Fargnoli)



Travis Braun, fresh off a win on Friday night, managed to capture another one in the Cosco Haulage Sportsman Division. Braun acknowledged Miller Motorsports for having an awesome car and a great track to his victory. The 88 of Don Spiece was having a good run until he spun in turn 4 causing a cautions and having to go tail. There were two cautions late in the race that allowed the group of drivers to bunch back up, but Braun was able to hold off Rob Knapp, who is also fresh off a win on Saturday night. Top 5 were Travis Braun, Rob Knapp, Greg Panunte, Wayne Conn and Tyler McPherson. (Heat Winners were Greg Panunte, B.J. Willard and Travis Braun)



Don Lessard didn’t know what to give his daughters, Tiffany and Ashley, for their birthday, so he gave them a win in the Niagara Auto Sales Truck Division. Don Lessard captured his 2nd feature win of the 2007 season. Lessard had to battle the 13 of Kevin Aube for most of the 15 lap event. John Low coming from the 10th starting spot managing to work his way up to 2nd place. Top 5 were Don Lessard, John Low, Rob Anthes and Rick Book. (Heat Winners were Rob Sauder and Jim Tufford)



Charlie Lynch finally found his way back to victory lane in the Kendall Oil Ministock Division at The New Humberstone Speedway. Lynch lucked out when the than leaders James Small and Len Wiley were battling it out, but they were too consumed with each other, and Lynch was able to capitalize by buzzing right past both of them to take the lead. Top 5 were Charlie Lynch, Dave Small, Len Wiley, Aaron Wiley and James Small. (Heat Winners were Len Wiley and Ken Kadwell)



In the growing Weekend Warrior class it was Ryan Grady who was able to capture his 1st checker flag in the 2007 season. Grady was able to take over the top spot when than leaders Roger Gilbert and Ryan Griffin tangled with each other. Top 5 were Ryan Grady, Will Schwemler, Lenie Sliter, Rob Goulden, and Ryan Griffin. (Heat Winners were Roger Gilbert)



Vintage cars were on hand tonight, to show the younger crowd what racing used to be like. Pat Sonnenberg won the 10 lap event. Top 5 were Pat Sonnenberg, Al Harju, Jim Ruston, Doug Fralick, and Al Wagner. Heat Winners were Jim Ruston



In a last minute decision The New Humberstone Speedway decided to hold two events instead of one. On the schedule was the ever popular Backwards race and at the last minute they ask the drivers if the would mind doing a figure 8 race, which they didn’t. Winners of both events were Corey Bacon.



Metro Collision sponsored their annual Truckers Show and Shine. In the Tractor category it was Metro Collision taking the first place spot with Peninsula Towing and Rankin coming in 2nd and 3rd.

In the dump truck division it was Dave Speck Trucking coming out with the top honors, sportsman drivers Darren Peters company Peters Excavating coming in 2nd with Kallimans Trucking coming in 3rd.
