Alan Dellinger Wins Seventh in E-Mods, First in Stocks in Back-to-Back Features on 14th Night of Racing at Sharon Speedway This Season
Russell King leads brother Rex King, Jr. across finish line to score victory in modifieds,Lynch wins in sprints

HARTFORD, Ohio; August 18, 2007 - Ed Lynch, Jr. (Sprints), Russell King (Modifieds), Alan Dellinger (E-Mods and Stocks) and Guy Griffin (Limited Sprints) picked up feature victories on the penultimate night of FANtastic Five points racing this season at Sharon Speedway's 3/8-mile oval on Saturday.

In the first feature of the evening, Russell King scored his second win of 2007 in the 25-lap Gibson-Governor Insurance Modified race, with his brother Rex King, Jr. finishing second. Jim Rasey and King paced the field to the green flag in the feature. Rasey took the initial lead, with Russell King slotting into second. Before the second lap was completed, Chris Dye looped his machine in Turn Two. Bob Dorman and Brian Swartzlander, who is currently second in the points, made contact with the stationary car. Swartzlander headed back to the pits for repairs, and then returned before the restart. Jim Weller, Jr. and Ron Smoker were the men on the move during the initial lap. Weller drove from 10th to fifth, and Smoker went from ninth to sixth prior the yellow. On the restart, Rex King, Jr. was the mover, as he found his way to third behind his brother Russell King and Rasey. Although Rasey held a five car length edge with six laps on the board, Russell King quickly cut into that margin. Russell King showed his nose under Rasey's machine on the seventh circuit, but was unable to make the pass. Russell King completed the pass for the lead as the big blocks worked the eighth lap. He beat Rasey to the apex of Turn Three to move into the lead. As the leaders caught lapped traffic on lap 10, Russell King led Rasey, Rex King, Jr., Del Rougeux and Smoker. Smoker moved to fourth spot after setting up Rougeux for a number of laps. Meanwhile, Russell King was on rails at the front of the order. He built a 15 car length edge over Rasey before the yellow flag came out on lap No. 16. The stoppage was for second place runner Rasey, who came to stop in Turn Two with a flat tire, which halted a very strong run. His misfortune moved Rex King, Jr. to second, Smoker to third, Rougeux fourth and Weller to fifth. Russell King rocketed away from the field on the restart to build a substantial edge over his brother and Smoker. Despite a yellow with six laps to go, Russell King remained the dominant car. He cruised to his second victory of the season. On top of his stellar car on the long runs, Russell King had the best car on the restarts. His brother Rex King, Jr. crossed the line in second spot, which was his best finish of the season at Sharon Speedway. Smoker was third, with Rougeux fourth and Weller fifth. Rasey and Swartzlander won the heat races.

Guy Griffin scored his sixth victory of 2007 in the Limited Sprint division's 15-lap feature by starting on the pole and leading every lap in a dominating performance. Griffin and Eric Williams paced the field to the green flag. Griffin raced wheel-to-wheel with Williams for three corners on the first lap, and ultimately took the lead on the inside of Turn Four. Griffin quickly built nearly a one straightaway advantage over Williams and Nate Stein. The best battle on the track was for fourth spot between Jack Whitmore and Brandon Spithaler. Spithaler showed his nose under Whitmore for nearly four laps, and ultimately made the move to take fourth on the bottom of Turn Two. Meanwhile, Griffin continued his strong performance at the sharp end of the field. He was one straightaway ahead of Williams, Stein and Spithaler with 11 laps on the scoreboard. The final four laps were much of the same, as Griffin rolled across the line for his sixth win of the season in a green to checkered feature. Stein slipped past Williams in Turn Four on the final lap to steal second place. Williams finished third, with Spithaler fourth and Whitmore fifth. Spithaler and Nick Miller won the heat races.

In the Warren Harley-Davidson Sprint Car 25-lap feature, Ed Lynch, Jr. was the man to beat as he drove into victory circle for the fourth time this year. Kyle Moffit and Jack Sodeman, Jr. were on the front row in the finale. Sodeman led the cars out of Turn Two, but Lynch, who rolled off fourth, found his way to the top spot with a powerful move on the bottom of Turn Four before the lap was completed. Lynch quickly set sail away from the rest of the pack. The "Apollo Rocket" built nearly a one straightaway edge over Sodeman before Danny Mumaw spun in Turn Four on the fourth lap. After a brief yellow, Lynch streamed away from the field, once again. The race was stopped on the seventh lap when a three-car incident between cars in the top 10 broke out in Turn Four. Jody Keegan, Rob Eyler and Dan Shetler were the cars involved with Eyler flipping into Shetler's machine. All three drivers were uninjured in the incident. Keegan returned to the race with minimal damage. Under the red flag, Lynch led Sodeman, Moffit and Felmlee. After the brief delay, Lynch went right back to work on the oval. Behind the leader, Kevin Schaeffer, who is in the heat of the points battle with Bob Felmlee, moved around Nick Mulheim for fifth spot. Coming into the night Felmlee was leading Schaeffer by five markers in the standings. Therefore, every position on the track was critical for those two drivers. As the race approached the halfway point, Felmlee slid under Moffit for third, with Schaeffer also trying to do the same. Meanwhile, Lynch continued to streak away from Sodeman at the front of the field. Lynch's lead was more than one straight with 18 laps on the board. Despite a late yellow, Lynch, who is the all-time feature win leader, cruised to his fourth feature victory of the season at Sharon Speedway after leading all 25 circuits, and his 48th overall in Hartford. Behind Lynch, Schaeffer was able to get around Moffit to take fourth with a couple laps remaining, which was pivotal in the points battle. Sodeman finished second, with Felmlee and Schaeffer third and fourth, respectively. Moffit came home fifth. Sodeman and Russ Sansosti scored wins in the heat races.

Alan Dellinger collected the feature victory in the Coy Brothers Trucking E-Mod division's 15-lap finale. Bob Diver and Vince Crisanti made up the front row at the start of the 15-lap feature. Diver wasted little time on his way to the lead as the green flag flew. Russ Dunn rolled off sixth at the start. Before the first lap was in the record books, Dunn found his way to second. A Jeff Hassay spin bunched the field up for a double-file restart. Dunn took advantage of the opportunity and powered around Diver's No. 23 machine to take the lead. However, that lead was short-lived because Dellinger used a powerful move of his own to snag the top spot before the field exited Turn Four. Dellinger built a slight cushion ahead of Dunn before a yellow flag resulted in another double-file restart. All the jockeying took place in the first three laps. Dunn remained the master of the restarts, as he re-took the lead on the lap four restart with a move of the high side of the oval. Dellinger slotted into second, and Jeff Sharp sat in third. Dellinger reeled Dunn back in as the cars worked the seventh lap. Dunn slid high in Turn Four one lap later, opening the door for Dellinger to take the lead once again. As Dellinger pulled away from the pack, Sharp pulled right on the rear bumper of Dunn in the scrap for second with 10 laps completed. Dellinger pulled away from the scuffle for second to score his seventh feature win of the season. Dunn crossed the line in second spot, with Sharp third and Diver fourth. Ron Jaeger drove a strong race to finish fifth. Sharp and Howard Fraley were the heat race winners.

Dellinger made it back-to-back wins after he dominated the 15-lap Tom's Sewer and Drain Service Pure Stock feature event right after winning the e-mod feature. Tom Miller and Bruce Redman were the front row starters for the feature. Miller snagged the early lead ahead of Redman and Mike Aley. However, a multi-car incident slowed the field before the second lap was completed. Redman used the restart to his advantage, and moved into the lead on the second circuit. He built a five car edge over Miller, Dellinger, Brian Carothers and Randy Riffe. Riffe found his way past Carothers on the sixth lap. Back at the front, Dellinger moved into second spot one lap later. He did not stop there, as used the Turn Four cushion to power his way to the lead around Redman. With 10 laps on the board, Dellinger led Redman, Riffe, Miller and Aley. He built a five car length edge over the battle for second between Redman and Riffe on the 12th lap. From there, Dellinger cruised to his first stock feature win of the season after scoring the victory in the e-mod feature just minutes before the start of the stock race. Redman finished second, with Riffe third, Miller fourth and Mike Aley fifth. Dellinger, Mike Aley and Will Aley won the heat races.
