11 Features for $10 This Friday at Black Rock
Rich Vleck, DUNDEE, NY (August 20, 2007)- Black Rock Speedway has had 10 Features for $10 Night in the past, but this Friday, there is one more bang for the buck, and it is a good one!
The first-ever media race will hit the track this Friday, as Fagan’s Inc. & Swarthout Recycling present the racing action. This race will feature 15 media personalities in FWD 4-cylinder enduros. Editors Note: I would let you know the favorites, but since I don’t want to get spun out, I’ll let my racing, and the spray paint, do the talking!
Aside from the media members, there will also be six divisions competing for points and for the money as the 2007 season has hit the stretch run.
For the second year in a row, the Marbles Automotive 358-Modified Point Standings are as tight as possible. With just two races remaining, one of which is double-points, time is running out, but ground can still be made up.
Ron Cartwright Jr. leads Steve Paine by just one point heading down the stretch. Ray Bliss Jr. is only seven out of the lead, with two-time defending champ Brian Swarthout only 14 out heading into the night he sponsors. Add to it that Dave DuBois of Bath and Dale Welty are still well within striking distance, and you have six drivers with a very realistic opportunity to walk home with the title this year.
Brady Fultz used a last-lap pass in last Friday’s event to expand his point lead in the Hoselton Automotive Crate Sportsman Division to 39 points over Justin Wright. Fultz likely can not clinch the title this week, but can get it to a point where he only needs to start the final point race next week.
The Street Stocks, Regional Truck Pro Trucks and Signs Plus of Kanona 4-cylinders are all running double features this Friday, making up the events that were rained out this past week.
Frank Chapman is strengthening his advantage over Darl Ellis Jr. in the streets, while Terry Povoski is way out in front in the Regional Truck Pro Trucks. The Signs Plus of Kanona 4-cylinders started their feature event, with seven laps already completed when the rain hit. Point leader Del Cummings was the leader of the event and will restart the race this week at 6:45, as such.
The HomeNecessites.com Bandits have only been rained out once this year, allowing for drivers like Tom Austin Jr. to dominate on a consistent basis. His 52-point advantage over Dylan Cecee will be hard to lose in the final two weeks. If Austin can take that advantage to 60 points, he will clinch the title, and a 28 inch LCD TV from Home Necessities. As long as he maintains a 45-point lead, he will just need to start the final race of the year to claim the championship.
The 11th event on the card will be the Ladies Modified/Sportsman Feature. No word on if Serenity Sutherland will be allowed to be a “ringer” in this event.
The 11 features get underway at 6:45 p.m. this Saturday, all for the standard adult general admission price of $10. For more information, visit www.BlackRockSpeedway.com.
