Humberstone Hosts ASCS Patriots for Sunday Special

Rich Vleck, TULSA, Okla. (August 21, 2007)- A busy weekend will round out Sunday at the Humberstone Speedway as the 2007 season nears its end.

The Humberstone Speedway, a track that has run bi-weekly 360-sprints in 2007, will round out their winged-season by hosting the 17th ASCS Patriot point event of the year.

The 1/3-mile facility, located just each of Port Colborne, Ontario, has played host to the ASCS Patriots in the past, but that was back in 2003, when the track was still known as the Gasport International Speedway.

Chris Muhleisen won his first of three career ASCS Patriot A-Mains back in June of 2003, and continues to be one of the stars of the series, now in its fifth year. “The Copper Chopper” has always run well at tracks where he has more experience at, and will hope that continue this Sunday.

Rob Pietz leads the 2007-point standings at the track, located within a mile of his house. Pietz has run a number of ASCS Patriot events in 2007, with a best of third at Eriez in June. Pietz has won two events at Humberstone this year and would like nothing more than to notch his first career ASCS Patriot win this Sunday Night at his hometown track.

Stan Zanchin is also a part-time Patriot that is a fixture at Humberstone. Zanchin will compete in his No. 94, along with sportsman regular Brad Rouse in his back-up, as the Fort Erie, Ontatrio driver sponsors the night with his company: Zanchin Truck &Trailer.

2006 ASCS Patriot Rookie of the Year Tim Zack is another local that will be found at this special event. The “Dain City Outlaw” helped to put things together at Humberstone for 2007 and looks forward to using his wealth of track experience.

Among the outsiders invading Humberstone is “The Cobra” Chuck Hebing, who has never run the speedway. The current ASCS Patriot point leader attempted to test out the track two weeks ago, but the event was rained out.

Jared Zimbardi, who currently sits second in points, 42 back of Hebing, placed in fifth in the event back in 2003 and hopes that translates into an opportunity to make up ground in the standings.

Ray Preston, Don Adamczyk, Kyle Moffit, Brad Knab and Keith Dempster are some of the other drivers that will return to the track hoping to score their first win at the speedway.

This event will pay $1,400-to-win, with $250 going to each competitor that starts the 25-lap A-Main. It will be the third-to-last full point race of the year for the ASCS Patriots, so you can be assured that plenty will be on the line at this Sunday Night event.
