“YOUTH & FAMILIES IN RACING” FORUM SCHEDULED FOR

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, IN KNOXVILLE

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (August 23, 2007) - The third annual “Youth & Families in Racing” Forum will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, at the non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville, Iowa. Slated during the Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals, and moderated by announcers Tony Paris and Justin Zoch, the forum is free and open to the public. The purpose is to introduce motorsports fans to some of the up-and-coming racers in the Midwest, and to salute some of the region’s racing families.

In the past, the forum has included teenage racers from the classes of stock cars, hobby stocks, outlaw dirt karts, figure-eights, motorcycles, sprint cars and front-wheel-drive cars. This year, a couple of quad racers from southeast Iowa are also expected to attend. In the past, the Shilling and Grimes/Selvage families have been present to talk about their participation in the sport.

Tony Paris is the weekly announcer at the dirt tracks in Bloomfield, Oskaloosa, and Memphis (Missouri), while FlatOut magazine editor Justin Zoch announces at the Knoxville Raceway. Anyone interested in taking part in the “Youth & Families in Racing” forum is encouraged to call museum director Tom Schmeh at 641-842-6176.
