EXCITING POINT BATTLES TO BE HIGHLIGHTED THIS SATURDAY AUGUST 25 AT FULTON SPEEDWAY

FULTON, NY – With the 2007 race season rapidly winding down, the points championships and final point standings are all on the line with the second to last regular show this Saturday August 25 at Fulton Speedway on Avon Products / Maple View Garage Night. In race action on the high banked track now prepared by Jeremie Corcoran will be the DIRTcar Modifieds, DIRTcar Sportsman, Gypsum Express Crate Sportsman, UMP Pro Stocks, UMP Street Stocks, and 4-Cylinder Enduros. Race time at the “Home of the Victoria 200” is set for 7pm.

In the headline DIRTcar Modified division, Baldwinsville driver Jimmy Phelps appears to be heading to his second career Fulton track title. However, defending champion Alan Johnson does have an unlikely mathematical shot to be champion once again. Kevin Bates, Vince Vitale, Dale Planck, Brian Weaver, Chad Phelps, Tom Sears, Roy Bresnahan, and Jim Witko are the remainder of the top ten as of this writing. All of these drivers plus several more preparing for the Victoria 200 are expected Saturday to do battle in the 35-lap headline main event on the smooth and fast 3/8-mile high-banked surface.

Jeremy Pitcher of Fulton is the current DIRTcar Sportsman standings leader with John Pietrowicz 52 points behind in second. Pietrowicz will likely have to settle for second with Pitcher becoming the season champion for the first time in his career. Shawn Donath is third, followed by Sammy Reakes IV, Dave Reilley, Anthony Steiner, Gregg Carner, A.J. Kingsley, Alan Fink, and rookie Lee Babcock. Young Timmy Sears Jr. is way out in front of the Gypsum Express Crate Sportsman standings with Sean McCarthy, Brad Godshalk, Mike Fowler, and Katelyn Kane behind.

The closest and most controversial track championship battle is in the UMP Pro Stock class with defending champion Billy Clark Jr. just 34 points in front of Jason Parkhurst. Jack Terrell, Dale Guernsey, and Rusty Marsden are the rest of the top five. Ron Hawker is 42 points ahead of Gary Barton in the UMP Street Stocks as both drivers vie for their first track championship. Dan Hofmann Sr., Jim Wallace, and Steve Woodworth complete the top drivers list. Mark Johnston and Jon Shumway will battle for the 4-Cylinder Enduro track title as both drivers are way ahead in the standings.

Admission prices this Saturday August 25 on Avon Products / Maple View Garage Night at Fulton Speedway are $12 for Adults, $5 for Ages 10-14, and children 9 and under are free of charge with a paid adult. Fulton Speedway is conveniently located on Route 57, just 2 miles south of the City of Fulton.
