VALLEY FORGE PENNSYLVANIA SPRINT SERIES CONTINUES. . . . .
DAVE ELY TAKES URC WIN AS LUCAS WOLFE COMES UP LIGHT AT THE SCALE FRIDAY
NIGHT AT WILLIAMS GROVE

Dave Ely of West Lawn, PA scored his first URC win of the season and
eighth career victory Friday night at the Williams Grove Speedway. Ely
led the first twenty-one laps with Lucas Wolfe of Mechanicsburg, PA
taking the lead on lap twenty-two. Ely and Wolfe exchanged the lead on
lap twenty-three with Wolfe regaining the top spot then running
unchallenged to the checker flag. Wolfe then took the winning car to
the scale for post race teching and the car came up light on the scale,
resulting in a disqualification. Ely was awarded the win to become
URC's fifteenth different feature winner this season in twenty-one
events presented in 2007.

A strong field of thirty-one URC sprint cars turned out for the Williams
Grove URC BAR'S Leaks Sprint Series event with heat race victories going
to Robbie Stillwaggon, Dave Ely, Mares Stellfox as the Don Ott "B" win
went to Lucas Wolfe.

In the twenty-five lap feature, Dave Ely set the pace for the first lap
followed by Robbie Stillwaggon. At the completion of lap one, the
yellow flag was displayed for Adam Gordon who was traveling at an unsafe
speed down the homestretch. On the restart, Ely was again the quickest
off of turn four as Kyle Purks moved into the top three. As the laps
ticked by, all eyes were on Lucas Wolfe who started nineteenth and was
racing within the top eight by lap ten. Another mover was Michael
Carber in the Valley Forge Inc sprint car, now racing in the top five.
Ely continued to set the pace and at the halfway mark, he was being
chased by Stillwaggon, Purks, Wolfe and Randy West.

On lap fifteen, Wolfe moved into second and began to track down the
leader. With five laps remaining, Wolfe was now in a position to
challenge for the lead, then on lap twenty-one, the caution was
displayed for Robbie Stillwaggon who spun in turn two. Stillwaggon had
a great ride going, racing in the sixth spot through most of the race.
On the restart, Wolfe dove to the bottom and wrestled the lead from Ely,
with the two leaders making slight contact as they raced in close
quarters charging out of turn two. Wolfe took the lead then Ely
switched grooves and reversed the move the following lap to regain the
top spot. Wolfe charged off turn two and with a strong run down the
backstretch, reeled in Ely to take the lead for the final time.

On the last two laps, Michael Carber was on a charge, challenging Ely
for second. Randy West and Davey Sammons were in a heated battled all
fighting to maintain a top five position. As the checker flag fell,
Wolfe was first to cross the line followed by Ely, Carber, West and
Davey Sammons to make up the top five. The failure for Wolfe to make
weight moved Ely into victory lane with Carber delivering an impressive
runner-up finish. Randy West finished third with Davey Sammons a solid
fourth as Curt Michael advanced one spot to make-up the top five.
