Danny Smith Feasts on Hoosier Home Cookin’ at Bloomington.
(8-25-07) Danville, Indiana's Danny Smith won his second O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series feature at Bloomington Friday night, leading all thirty laps after starting from the pole position to win the $2,000 winning share. Twenty-six cars were on hand to put on a "Midwest style" show for the large Bloomington crowd. Smith, who currently leads the All Star Circuit of Champions title chase, had previously picked up a win at Paragon Speedway.
While Smith led the distance, he had to fend off repeated challenges from Kraig Kinser, who made his first sprint car appearance of the season. Kinser started third in the feature and ran most of the race in second before tenth starting Jimmy Hurley completed his charge by moving around Kinser on the final lap. Ninth starting Rob Standridge finished fourth and A.J. Bruns completed the top five. Midwest All Star Series point leader Jerrod Hull was sixth while Kyle Cummins, Jeff Bland, Jr., Ryan Bunton and Jeremy Standridge rounded out the top ten.
Rob Standridge shaved Hull’s point lead to a mere sixty-nine. The next few races will see the championship race heat up to claim the inaugural Midwest All Star Series title.
Heat races were won by Jesse Hockett, Tom Busch and Hull. Bobby Stines captured the B Main while Rob Standridge picked up the All Star Dash. Jesse Hockett set the qualifying pace at 10.113
Next up for the Midwest All Star Series is a Friday, August 31st date at the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, IL Visit www.midwestallstarseries.com for more information.
