STINE AND HICKOK TAKE FIRST WINS OF 07 AT DOG HOLLOW

For immediate release August 24, 2007

STRONGSTOWN , PA – Two drivers, Scott Stein of Cherry Tree in the Hugill Sales and Service Streets and Ray Hickok Jr. of Commodore in the Texas Auto Ranch Four Cylinder Sidewinders picked up their first wins of the season on Bassaro Classic Car Restoration night at Dog Hollow Speedway.

Repeat winners included Dave Satterlee of Home in the Townsend Gas and Oil Late Models, Dave Padula of Greencastle in the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Fastrak Late Models and Tim Good of Vintondale in the Brush Valley Tire Pure Stocks.

Bernie Whiteford and Scott Stein led the late models to the green flag with Whiteford taking the lead and Stein falling to second. A pair of cautions for spins on laps two and three slowed the field. The lap three caution was for Dave Satterlee who tailed the field in 19th.

On the restart it was still Whiteford in the lead, but the eyes in the stands were also watching Satterlee, as he went to the outside and was headed to the front. Whiteford was keeping first Stein then Randy Smithley at bay during the race, as Satterlee continued his charge to the front. By the 11th lap Satterlee had moved to third and a caution flew on lap 12, regrouping the field. When the race resumed Satterlee, nicknamed “The Rim Rider” went to the outside and moved past both Smithley and Whiteford for the lead off the second turn. Once he had the lead, smoke started to come from the engine compartment allowing Whiteford and Smithley to close in, but Satterlee had enough left to pick up his second win of the season. Whiteford, Smithley, Brian Smith and Clate Copeman completed the top five. Heat wins went to Randy Smithley and Rudy Bassaro.

The Fastrak Late Models took to the oval with Dave Padula and Kirby Tucker on the front row. Padula took the lead and was setting a torrid pace, with Chris Angelicchio and JR Wrigh jockeying for second. The competition became close and Wright and Angelicchio made contact, with Angelicchio spinning. The race was slowed and upon restarting it was still Padula in the lead and now Paul Michny was in second. Wright had now taken up the battle with Chad Wilds for third and at the end it was Wilds with the spot. The top five were: Padula, Michny, Wilds, Wright and Ron Smithley. The heat was won by Dave Padula.

The street stock feature saw Mike Laughard get to the first turn before fellow front row starter Ray Charles. Scott Stein came from fourth and took the lead with Laughard falling to second on lap three. By the seventh lap, Jeff Sweeney was in second and closing on Stein. On lap nine a caution flew and regrouped the field. On the restart Sweeney pulled along side of Stine and they were wheel-to-wheel for a few laps, before Stein moved high and Sweeney nearly collected the wall. Sweeney backed off to miss the wall, and Stein was able to pull away and take the win. Sweeney, Laughard, Charles and John Kinsey completed the top five. Scott Stein and Josh Jacoby won the heats.

Jeff Enos led Brian Daughenbaugh into the first turn to start the pure stock feature with Tim Good moving into second before the first lap was recorded. Good stayed with Enos and tried numerous times to get under him, finally on lap 12, Good dove low in turns three and four and made it stick enough to get the lead off the fourth turn. Once out front Good was able to hold on for the win. Tim Laughard moved into second at the finish with John Mazey, Marshall Detwiler and Rich Powell completing the top five. Tim Good and Jeff Enos split the heats.

Paul Little led Jon Forshey into the first turn to start the four cylinder feature with Mark Maglett in second. On lap three Ray Hickok Jr. moved into the lead and held off the challenges from Maglett and Little, but as the race wore down, Joe Petyak stuck his nose into the mix, but came up short. The top five were Hickok, Maglet, Petyak, Matt Weakland and Little. Heat wins went to Ray Hickok Jr., his brother Chris Hickok, Mark Maglet and Chris Yoder. The B main was won by Shaina Shannon.
