LADY LUCK” SHINES ON TROMBLEY CAPTURES SECOND WIN OF 07

August 25, 2007 West Lebanon, New York – Sometimes is just better to be
lucky than to be good and Saturday night at Lebanon Valley Speedway
Altamont NY’s Jeff Trombley enjoyed just a little bit of that luck to
capture his second Big Block Modified win of 2007. The 30 Lap Modified
Feature presented by County Concrete set a torrid pace with Modified
Rookie contender Ryan Larkin blasting to an almost straightaway lead.
Larkin looked to have the field covered as the laps ticked by and with few
cautions we may have seen the 14th different Modified winner of 07 but
with about 6 laps remaining Larkin’s #39 started to show signs of smoke
from the right side. A valiant effort was made to hold off the
advances of Russ Reckner who was running second but with three to go the
#39’s motor expired at the same time the #34 of Reckner experiences
mechanical woes and he was forced pitside as well. Trombley’s #21J had been
running third about a straightaway behind the top two now inherited the
lead. They say you have to lose a race before you can win one, well
Ryan Larkin has lost his race and will now visit victory lane very soon.
A hard charging Andy Bachetti finished 2nd followed by Steve Hough,
Guy Sheldon and Keith Flach. A bit of irony for Trombley with the
absence of flagger Rodney Rescott, Claude Riley was at the controls on the
flag stand and waved the checkered as Trombley crossed the finish line.
Riley has been spending time this season helping the #21J team and
was elated by the experience. The Modified point’s race tightened up
with only one race remaining J.R. Heffner 931 is the current leader with
Eddie Marshall 930 one point behind and last year’s Champion Andy
Bachetti 928 third. It’s anyone Championship to win and next Saturday’s
event will see the cream rise to the top.

The 20 Lap Sportsman Feature was won by Kyle Hoffman, his second win of
07. He was followed by last week’s winner Korey Sandstedt, Alan
Houghtaling, current Sportsman point leader Jeff Watson and Chris Tryon.

The 20 Lap Pro Stock Feature had to be red flagged for a short time due
to the extremely hot temperatures causing an electrical problem
throughout parts of the facility. The problem was quickly remedied and
racing continued to see Robbie Speed garner the victory, his 4th of 07
leading the win category amongst the Pro Stocks. Current Pro Stock point
leader Kevin Arnold continued his run at a Championship finishing 2nd,
Jay Corbin, Chris Crews and Jay Casey followed. Rob Yetman returned to
the high banks for the first time this season and finished 6th.

Ten time winner in the Limited Pro Stock class Nick Hilt holds a
commanding point lead and opted to leave his Limited ride home this week to
concentrate on the Pro Stock, finishing 13th. With the absence of Hilt
the Limited class was wide open and John Santolin wasted no time in
taking advantage and winning the 10 Lap contest. Dave Colwell, Rob Maxon,
Joe Mennite and George Miles Jr rounded out the top five.

Pure Stock races were won by Jeff Douglass, Howard Madsen and Jay
Casey.
