An Unprecedented 15 Features for Just $10 On Championship Night at Black Rock

Rich Vleck, DUNDEE, NY (August 27, 2007)- For the second year in a row, a blackout was followed by two weeks of ˝ of the night getting in. The good news is that sets up a super bargain this Friday as a super-tight point battle winds down.

The Marbles Automotive 358-Modifieds highlight this jam-packed program, presented by Five Star Bank and Bully Hill Vineyards. Along with their make-up feature from this past week, they will be running their 25-lap Championship Event for double points, crowning the 2007 Titleholder.

While 15 drivers mathematically can win the championship, an astounding six drivers still have a realistic chance and claiming the title. A number of the contenders would be major surprises if the chips fell their way this Friday.

Ron Cartwright Jr. sits just one point ahead of past champion Steve Paine at the top of the heap. While both control their own destiny this Friday, a DNF in either feature would end hope of remaining on top.

The remaining four contenders remain winless in 2007, but a win on Friday, especially in the double-point finale, would allow them to leap frog to the front. Included in this group are Ray Bliss and defending champion Brian Swarthout who have been strong all year.

Dave DuBois and Dale Welty have never scored 358-modified wins at Black Rock but with some help could still claim the title. This is the second year in a row that DuBois is still in the championship hunt on the finale night while Welty looks to stay hot after his runner-up showing in the most recent feature.

Eric Fisher would need some serious help to pick up the Championship, but it still could happen for the sophomore competitor.

The Hoselton Automotive Crate Sportsman is wrapping up their inaugural point battle this Friday with one double-point feature. Brady Fultz has been on cruise control as the point leader for much of 2007, but the Championship is far from his right now.

Because last week’s finish is still not official, points have not been updated, but Justin Wright is just ahead of Daryl Hilkert and Loren Lincoln for the current runner-up position. While Wright is the only with a win this year at Black Rock, a win by any of the three just might be what it takes to capture the title. Mike Entwistle and Greg Hixson both need some major help, but could also win the title.

The third champion to be crowned on the night is much easier to figure out. As long as Tom Austin Jr. starts the final HomeNecessites.com Bandit Feature, he will claim the title, as well as a 28’’ LCD TV from the division sponsor. They will run their double point feature to kick off the night.

The remaining four divisions will be running double features, with the championship picture holding off for October. None of the following divisions will run for double points.

The Freedom Village USA Super Stocks return after a week off with Quinn Sutherland just eight markers ahead of defending champ Jeremy Wonderling.

The street stocks still find Frank Chapman Jr. in front of the standings, but there is a new contender in the rear view mirror: Chris Fisher. Even though Fisher has never won a feature, he may have his best opportunity this week as he continues to gain speed and ground in the late portion of the season.

Jared Hill won his fourth feature in the Regional Truck Pro Trucks last week, but is still well behind Terry Povoski who is cruising to his second consecutive championship.

Del Cummings has a massive point lead in the Signs Plus of Kanona 4-Cylinder Class, but Chris McCann was able to gain ground with a second-place showing last Friday. Now only 24 points back, McCann is well within reach. He will only get one chance to make up ground this Friday however, as the first feature is now the 2nd leg of the Black Rock/Woodhull Signs Plus of Kanona 4-Cylinder Challenge.

Also on the card is the second open 4-cylinder of the year, with track rentals still available. There will also be the Ladies Super Stocks and Ladies Modified/Sportsman Features.

Racing action kicks off promptly at 6:45 p.m. for the last night of racing in Dundee before a six-week break. All six adult divisions will run heats so it will be a jam-packed night. For more info, visit www.BlackRockSpeedway.com.
