Three Nights of Racing This Week at SSP with the Return of the 410 Sprint Cars
Newberrytown, PA (August 27, 2007) – Three big racing events in four days highlight the action at the Susquehanna Speedway Park this Labor Day weekend.
Racing action begins at SSP on Thursday night, August 30 with the York County Nationals featuring a 32-lap feature event for the 410 Sprint Cars and the Penn Mar Vintage Car Club. King of the Posse Match races will also be highlighted to determine the starting position for the Sprint Car main event. The Sprint Car feature will pay $3,200-to-win and $250 to start. Mufflers WILL NOT be required and Hoosier Tires will be mandatory on all four corners with the National Sprint Car Spec Tire required on the right rear (105/18-15 Hoosier tire in the specified SC-12, SC-15 or SC-25 compound). The pit gates will open 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 6:40 p.m. and qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.
General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Thursday night will be Adults and Teens (13 & older) $16.00; Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a reduced price of $23.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.
On Saturday Night, September 1, Stock Car Saturday Night returns with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars and a special Women on Wheels Mini Vans. Kid’s Box Car Races will also highlight the evening. On Saturday, the pit gates will open 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.
Ron Brown of Hummelstown was the name drawn last weekend to receive the “ride of a lifetime” in the Superior Home Race Car Ride-Along with Ray Broderick. He will receive a few laps in the passenger seat of Ray’s Xtreme Stock Car. Every week one ticket will be drawn from the adult general admission tickets to win a ride for the week after.
General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Saturday night will be Adults and Teens (13 & older) $12.00; Children (12 & under) are free. Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced price of $18.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.
Then on Sunday Night, September 2, the ASCS Sprint Cars return with a Mid-Atlantic Regional event along with the ARDC Midgets, Legends Cars and Women on Wheels Stock Cars. It will also be Camera & Autograph Night where all fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite drivers with their cars on the frontstretch before the feature events begin. On Sunday, the pit gates will open 3:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 4:00 p.m. Warmups begin at 5:30 p.m. with qualifying races at 6:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.

There is a $2.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from races during the previous week’s events completed only. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during the season for great prizes. Last season, 10 winners were drawn from the repeat fans and each winner received $30 in SSP Gift Certificates for tickets or concessions. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
Last Saturday night, after an hour and a half rain delay on Stock Car Saturday Night at SSP, Carlisle’s Carl Billet returning to the Late Model victory lane for the seventh time this season and extended his point lead in the championship. Annville’s Joey Hoffer picked up his second Street Stock win of the season. Ray Broderick of Lancaster came from the last place starting position to collect his first career victory in the Xtreme Stock Cars 30 lapper. Joe Snodgrass won the non-stop Classic Car main event. Jeff Condran was victorious in the the Legends Cars feature. Adam Doll of Wellsville won the XSC Rookie Rumble and Red Lion’s Van Baker won the Great American School Bus Championship. Many of the children in attendance also participated in the Members First FCU Kid’s Money Scramble.

SSP Pit Notes
- Postponed 358 Sprint Car Event – The twice postponed 358 Sprint Car event (May 27 & August 19) will not be made up in 2007 due to no suitable dates for the remainder of the season. All competitors and fans with rainchecks (tickets and pit passes) from May 27 may be used for any remaining event at SSP this season. If a fan or competitor does not use it through the end of the season, they may return it to the SSP Home Offices after Monday, November 13 by mail requesting a refund or they may keep it for the 2008 season and use it for a scheduled 358 Sprint Car race.
- SSP Competitor's Link Section Added to SSP Website - Let your fans know the latest info on your team! If you're a regular ARDC, Late Model, Street Stock, Xtreme Stock Cars or other regular SSP series competitor and have a website, e-mail the link of your web site to our webmaster at tvr1@comcast.net, so we can include you in this new section.
- Information About “The Outback” Track at SSP – The Outback Track at SSP is still currently under construction for Quarter Midgets, karts and more. The days of operation will be Saturday during the daytime hours. As work continues, the first open practice date has been pushed back to a date to be announced based on the delivery of the clay.
Competitive racing is set to begin after a few practice dates have been completed. The classes/types of cars or karts will be developed during the open practice sessions. Details will continue to be released as they become finalized.
- SSP Track Championship Point Standings – The current point standings for all SSP points earning divisions are available at www.sspracing.net under “Points and Results.”
