DIRTcar Sportsman and Pro Stock champions to be crowned on Jack Veach Championship Night at Genesee Speedway.

Batavia, NY—August 30, 2007--By: Chris Rhynold, Media/Racer Relations Director

As the season comes to a close, the final points night for the sportsman and pro stock divisions will crown the 2007 season champions on Jack Veach Championship Night at Genesee Speedway.

A night to remember and commemorate Jack Veach who was a well respected official at many race tracks for many years. Genesee Speedway was one of the speedways that was lucky enough to have Jack on its staff.

Rob Pratt holds a 22 point lead over John Venuto in the Troyer Race Cars Sportsman Division going into the night. There is a couple of scenarios but Pratt must basically finish 11th or better to capture the Genesee Speedway DIRTcar Sportsman title. Venuto holds the same 22 point margin over 3rd place runner Steve Schumacher. With the title still up for grabs, it should make for an interesting night.

In the Greenlief’s Restaurant Pro Stock, Pete Stefanski pretty much has the title sewn up. Stefanski just needs to start the feature to capture the 2007 points title as he has a 42 point lead over Steve Lewis, but don’t think for a second that is all that is going to happen. For sure Stefanski will be looking for his 11th Genesee Speedway feature win of the 2007 season. However, the chase for 2nd place is still very wide open. Lewis holds a mere 8 point lead over Don Barnes, so both Lewis and Barnes will be trying to outrace each other to get the runner up spot.

Saturday night will be the final 5 star program night and the BDK Construction Late Models, Bobcat of Buffalo Street Stocks and the Dickinson’s Auto Service Mini Stocks will also be on the card setting themselves up for their championship night the following Saturday.

Also as another special added treat, the sportsman and the pro stock divisions will be having scramble dash races as the sprints had last week. The scramble dashes was very well received and it was thought to be a great little treat to try it with the classes at Genesee Speedway. The format will be discussed at the drivers meeting on Saturday. Eric Greenlief and Greenlief’s Restaurant has stepped up as one of the sponsors for the nights scramble dashes.

Pit Gates open at 4pm, Grandstand opens at 5pm, Green Flag drops at 6pm. For race day information call the speedway at 585-343-1076.
