By Martin Bélanger

Cantley, PQ – Friday, August 31, 2007 – On this special night of racing with 25-lap distance for the Pro-Stock, Semi-Pro and 4 cylinders while the modifieds had their regular 30-lap feature. It was also the final night in the point`s race in every division so this make for very good racing on a very beautiful surface.

It`s a total of fourteen cars that took the green flag in the 30-lap feature when Ryan Foley took the early lead but had company with Marc Therrien and Philippe Landry. Foley went too high and Landry, Therrien and Eric Gauvreau were able to pass him when Robbie Grant brought the first caution on lap 6. Gauvreau grabbed the lead on the restart over Landry and Ladouceur able to also pass Landry and was now on the back bumper of Gauvreau. Both drivers raced side by side for a few laps when Ladouceur took the lead on lap 13 and took a good advantage over Gauvreau as the laps went down. Ladouceur led the final seventeen laps to capture his seventh feature of the year and he is crowned the 2007 track champion. Gauvreau finished second, Dave Heaslip third, Lee Ladouceur fourth and Pierre Dagenais completed the top 5. Gauvreau and Dagenais were the heat winners.

In the 25-lap Pro-Stock feature, Dave Bissonnette took the lead with Ghyslain Valade following but he got into the infield and this brought the first caution of the race on lap 2. Bissonnette stayed in front with Denis Gauvreau in second and Nicolas Vaillant in third when Vaillant passed Gauvreau on lap 7. A good battle was going on for second spot with Lebrun, Vaillant and Ladouceur with Lebrun finally taking the spot at the halfway point. With ten to go, Bissonnette had a sizeable lead over Lebrun and Ladouceur who took the second spot on lap 17. Bissonnette led the final 18 laps to win the feature and was also declared the 2007 champion in the Pro-Stock class. Ladouceur finished second and Denis Gauvreau completed the podium.

Andre Huot and Benoit Dubois lead the 21-car field in the 25-lap feature race for the Semi-Pro when Huot grabbed the early lead but Richard Brady passed him on lap 2 when Benoit Dubois slowed in front of the grandstand and the caution was out on lap 3. Brady kept the lead with Dominic Gauvreau in second when Marc Desjardins stopped his car in turn one and the yellow is out again on the field. Dominic Gauvreau was the new leader on the restart when the yellow was out again on lap 5. Gauvreau had a good start when Bruno Richard and Andre Guindon got together in the backstretch on lap 6. Gauvreau who was the leader had to head to the pits and Bruno Boivin was now the new leader. Boivin retained the lead when Alexandre Gagnon used the inside lane to pass him on lap 8 and the caution was back out on the same lap for Charles Galipeau. Boivin was back on top on the green when André Huot and Benoit Dubois collided in turn 1 and 2 on lap 9. Boivin got a great start when Stéphane Carrière spun out on lap 11 and this brought the seventh caution of the race. On the restart, Boivin was still in first with Gagnon in second and Sébastien Bigras in third when Charles Galipeau stopped for the second time of the feature on lap 16. Boivin had some challenge from Gagnon on the following green but kept his place when Dominic Gauvreau had problems in turn 2 on lap 20. Bruno
Boivin led the last 5 laps to win the feature and by the same time win the 2007 championship. Alexandre Gagnon finished second, Serge Lagacé third, Sébastien Bigras fourth and Guy Regimbald completed the top 5. Lagacé, Regimbald and Boivin were the heats winners

Gabriel Mercier took the lead in the 25-lap feature for the 4 cylinders category with Yannick Raymond in second place but Martin Bigras passed him on lap 4 and Bigras was now chasing the leader. He used the inside lane to get the lead from Mercier and took a good lead over him. Alexandre Pilon used the same lane of Bigras to take the second place of Mercier. Bigras was now in traffic at the halfway point with Pilon chasing him and Mercier in third. With ten to go, Pilon was now on the back bumper of Bigras when Martin Lagacé stopped in turn 3 on lap 17. Pilon used the outside on the restart to take the lead over Bigras and led the final 8 laps to win this special event. Bigras was second and Mercier completed the podium. Gabriel Mercier and Alexandre Pilon were the heat winners.

Since it was the last night in the point championship, the champions were named.
