Jessica Power caps title run with first win
Brockville-On the night Brockville Ontario Speedway crowned its track champions the biggest cheers came for a Queens university student. Jessica Power led all 16 laps to capture the Rookie class feature on Saturday night. It was her first win of the season and clinched the division crown for the popular driver. The night sponsored by the Brockville Recorder and Times was the kick off for the Leeds Grenville United Way campaign as fans donated one thousand dollars for the cause
Runner up Josh Kane finished second after slipping past Adam Trickey on the last lap.
Stephane Lafrance grabbed the lead on an early race restart and then held off a late charge from Danny O Brien to take the 30 lap 358 Modified feature, his second win of the year. O Brien's second place run was more than enough to salt away another BOS track title. Mike Adderley, Adam Moore and Ryan Poole rounded out the fast five.
Bob Albright powered into the lead around the midway point and easily outdistanced the field in the 20 lap Sportsman main. The drama was back in the pack as Randy Earl worked his way to fourth to best Sheldon Hoogwerf for the track crown. Hoogwerf was in good shape until he spun in turn four with just two laps to go. Jason Riddell was second followed by Chris Herbison, Earl and Matt Billings.
Bob Botting led all 15 laps to take the Street Stock feature. Billy Code put the wraps on back to back title with a second place run in his trusty old nova. Dana Aikins was third in front of Brock Cullen and Jack Code.
Ben Tucker captured yet another Vintage car run while Brock Cullen captured a special 20 lap enduro race. Brockville Ontario Speedway returns to action next Saturday night September 8th with the always popular run what you brung for the Modifieds The green flag drops at 7pm.
