Friday; DELLINGER closes in on inaugural $5,000 championship
By Mike Leone
September 4, 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Pulaski, PA
The FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series will
return to action this Friday night, September 7 at Raceway 7. It'll
be the fifth annual Fall Classic and the season finale for the
Conneaut, Ohio dirt oval. The rain date is next Friday, September
14.
"We're looking forward to going back to Raceway 7," stated Northeast
Region Co-Director Vicki Emig. "Ron Nielson has supported FASTRAK by
running the division weekly and hosting three Touring Series events
to help get the Northeast Region off the ground. The first two
Touring events were excellent and we expect nothing different this
Friday night. With Freedom and McKean County Raceways off this
weekend, we expect another solid field of cars. We're thrilled
Raceway 7 added us to their Fall Classic."
The 25-lap feature Friday night will pay $1,200 to-win, $125 to-
start. Drivers will draw pills to determine the heat race lineups and
redraw for the first 12 starting spots of the feature. There is a $50
entry fee. The Goodyear G45 or G50 tires are mandatory. They will be
available at the track for $125 each or by calling BWR Performance at
330-509-1999.
Dick Barton of Ashville, New York leads the Series with three
victories including the inaugural event on May 25 at Raceway 7, the
June 17 show at Eriez, and the $5,000 event at Mercer Raceway Park on
July 4 as well as. John Lacki of Sinclairsville, New York won back-
to-back Touring events on June 15 and 16 at Raceway 7 and McKean.
Alan Dellinger and Bobby Powell have single victories at Lakeville
and Dog Hollow Speedways respectively.
"The competitiveness in the Touring events has been phenomenal,"
commented Northeast Region Co-Director Mike Leone. "When drivers
like Tommy Snyder and Bobby Powell who have little Late Model
experience can run up front with veterans like Dick Barton, Alan
Dellinger, Rodney Phillips, Todd Andrews it shows how tough the
racing is. Then you have guys like John Lacki, Greg Oakes, John
Watson, Dave Padula, and Chris Knuth who have been fast all season.
As more and more racers migrate into the FASTRAK divisions, it's only
going to make the Touring races even tougher in the future."
The 2007 Northeast Touring Series champion will be determined at
McKean County Raceway on Friday, September 28. That event will pay
$3,000 to-win and will also be Night 1 of the Nationals for the
Northeast Region. Dellinger, of Hermitage, Pa., simply needs to
finish 13th or better in the final two events and will claim the
inaugural $5,000 championship plus a 2008 Bullitt Chassis valued at
$3,395. Pro-1 Race Cars will also be randomly awarding a 2008
chassis to a FASTRAK Northeast Touring member at the awards
banquet.
