VICTORIA 200 MINI-SERIES FOR MODIFIEDS PLUS NY STATE 4-CYLINDER SUPER STOCK CHAMPIONSHIPS FRIDAY AT BREWERTON SPEEDWAY

BREWERTON, NY – This Friday night September 7 at Brewerton Speedway will be the last regular show of the 2007 race season, and a bargain for race fans it is. With the point races now over, it’s time to have some fun as the Victoria 200 Modified Sail Panel Mini-Series will visit the “D-Shaped DIRT Demon” for a 35-lap, $2,000 to win special event. The 4-Cylinder Super Stock division will also be featured with the New York State Championship 25-lap event giving the winner a guaranteed starting spot in the Race of Champions event at Oswego Speedway on September 21. Also in race action are the IMCA Modifieds and 4-Cylinder Enduros. Race time at the popular Route 11 track now professionally prepared by Jeremie Corcoran is set for 7:30pm sharp.

The final Victoria 200 Sail-Panel Modified Mini-Series event at Brewerton Speedway will feature many of the top names in Modified racing battling for one of the only two guaranteed starting spots in the $25,000 to win Victoria 200 at Fulton Speedway on September 29. Currently leading the standings is Jimmy Phelps by just four points over Danny Johnson, both whom are expected in contention for the win. Home track regular and 2007 champion Willy Decker will fend off all challenges including those from Billy Decker, Pat Ward, Ryan Phelps, Mitch Gibbs, Bobby Varin, Tom Sears, Jim Mahaney, Tim Sears, Robert King, Alan Johnson, Gary Tomkins, Chad Homan, Kevin Bates, Brian Weaver, and Vic Coffey. Rules for the event, listed below, include an open tire rule, sail panels, alcohol power, and motors as big as 500ci. The points champion of the two-race Brewerton Speedway Victoria 200 Mini-Series will become a guaranteed starter in the Victoria 200, and many of the above drivers have a legitimate shot.

The always exciting 4-Cylinder Super Stock division will have the 25-lap extra distance New York State Championship event with home track rules. A higher purse with a $15 entry fee and home track rules will bring out many of the top 4-Cylinder drivers from all over New York State. Brewerton drivers including 2007 champion Claude Hutchings Jr. and former champion Chuck Powelczyk will defend their home turf over invading teams. Matt Wetterer, Chris Kranz, Chad Dupra, Lorraine Powelczyk, Jessica Herbert, Sam Carista, Aron Backus, and Matt Fay will also look for glory over incoming drivers. All out of town race teams must bring their home track rulebook for competition in the 4-Cylinder Super Stock New York State Championships. The winner of the 25-lap New York State Championship event will be a guaranteed starter for the 4-Cylinder Race of Champions at Oswego Speedway on Friday September 21.

The IMCA Modifieds will battle in a non-point 20-lap feature event with several of the top names at Boone , Iowa for the IMCA Nationals. Expected to contend for the feature win in the last appearance of the 2007 race season are Greg Kimball, Pete Anderson, Rich Riggs, Rich Townsend, J.J. Courcy, Les Hubbard, and Bill Anderson. 4-Cylinder Enduro champion Josh Herbert will look to justify his season crown with yet another victory over father Jerry Herbert, Devon Rookey, Jerry Curcie Jr., and Jay Elhage.
