An exciting month of September at Edelweiss Speedway

By Martin Bélanger

Cantley, PQ - Wednesday, September 5, 2007 – When the month of September arrives, it usually means that the racing season is almost done. There are still 3 very good nights of racing left at Edelweiss Speedway.

It all starts on Friday, September 7 with the biggest night of racing of the summer with the Mr.DIRTcar trails in town for the modifieds and the pro-stocks. The modifieds will have a 100-lap distance feature while the pro-stock will compete in 50-lap finale. More than $25,000 will be given during this very important night. Many drivers from other speedways are expected to show up for these races. The fans should arrive early because the Time Trials are scheduled to start around 6:30pm. Média is proudly sponsoring the night.

The Super Enduro is next on the schedule with Les Fondations BRL presenting this program on Saturday, September 15. The afternoon will start at 2pm and will consist of a 50-lap race for the 4 cylinders type of car, it will be followed by a 100-lap feature for 6 & 8 cylinders cars and a powder puff race is also on the menu.

The season will end in fashion with the Empire Super Sprints returning to Edelweiss after their August 17 show had been postponed for bad weather. The category semi-pro and 4 cylinders will also be on the schedule on this very spectacular night.

The arrival of September also means the end of the point’s race in each category. For a second year in a row, Laurent Ladouceur wins the championship in the modified with 844 points which is 18 more than his son Lee. Dave Heaslip completes the podium with 760 points. A new champion has been crowned in the pro-stock division; Dave Bissonnette took the top spot with 872 points with Joey Ladouceur finishing second with 856 and Denis Gauvreau in third with 832 points. The Semi-Pro point`s race was the tightest of all categories with Bruno Boivin winning by a margin of only 8 points (708 vs 700) over Marc Lalonde and with 630 points, Richard Brady completed the trio. It was the opposite in the 4 cylinders championship with Martin Lagacé winning by a big margin of 66 points (794 vs 728) over Gabriel Mercier and Yannick Raymond came in third with 726 points. Congratulations to all drivers!!!
