The BRP/Hoosier Race Tires Modified Tour 07 will close out their 2007 schedule and crown the Series champion on Saturday, September 8th at the Sharon Speedway with the running of the annual Russ King Memorial.

Rex King Sr. will be trying to follow up his victory at the Series’ last event at the Eriez Speedway with another feature win. King Sr. is also the defending winner of this event that is run each year to recognize his father’s contributions to auto racing in the Eastern, OH area. In addition, BRP/Hoosier Race Tire Modified Tour points leader Russell King will be battling his father to capture the prestigious event named in honor of his late grandfather.

New York star Ron Smoker, who relinquished the Series points lead to the younger member of the King family following a disappointing run at the Eriez Speedway, will be looking to get back into victory lane this weekend as well. Smoker was victorious when the Tour visited the Central PA Speedway earlier this season and in addition to being a former Sharon Speedway champion, he is also a three time Modified Tour Series Champion. “Revin” Kevin Bolland of New Brighton, PA is also expected to be on hand to battle Sharon Speedway regulars Del Rougeux Jr., Brian Swartzlander, Jim Rasey and Jim Weller Jr.

In addition to the drivers listed above “Mr. Consistency” Dave Murdick would certainly enjoy bringing home the win. Race fans cannot count out Tour regulars Skip Moore and Rick Hall, who both had their best finishes of the season at the Series’ last event at the Eriez Speedway, and would love to conclude their 2007 season with the prestigious victory.

Gates are scheduled to open at 4:00 with the first green flag to wave at 6:00. For additional information stop by the Speedway’s website at www.sharonspeedway.com.
