Bobby Whitling of Seneca, Pa., captured his second consecutive CSOnline Applefest 100 on Saturday, September 29, 2001, in a patriotic event run two and half weeks after the September 11th terrorist attacks. Whitling and Cochranton, Pa., veteran Dave Ferringer dueled for the race win the entire race as Whitling took the lead on the 54th lap from "The Bicentennial Blast." "The Seneca Slider" captured $2,125 for his race win. Ferringer finished second followed by Rookie of the Race Scotty Carbaugh of Seneca, Pa., Andy Buckley of Stoneboro, Pa., and Scott Bochek of Cheswick, Pa.
