"The Bicentennial Blast" wins!! Dave Ferringer of Cochranton, Pa., earned his first victory in race history holding off a hard charging Bruce Smith of Franklin, Pa., over the last few laps in the 2004 CSOnline Applefest 100, which was held on Sunday, September 12, 2004. Taking the lead on the 65th circuit, Ferringer led Smith into the final lap. Smith, the 2004 Pro Stock track champion, tried to stick his nose under Ferringer in turn three, but the crafty veteran held off Smith in a thrilling race. Ferringer earned $2,460 for the victory. Jason Johns of Oil City, Pa., finished third over Doug Iorio II of Kennerdell, Pa., and Scott Myers of Reno, Pa. Jeff Manners of Cherrytree, Pa., captured the 2004 Apple Core 20 for the Thundercars. The 2003 Thundercar track champion defeated the 2004 Thundercar track champion, Don Blake Jr., of Titusville, Pa., for the win. Robby Switzer of Kennerdell, Pa., finished third over Oil City, Pa., drivers Joe Blake and Chad Myers.
