Modified Pre-Entry Deadline Closing Fast for 22nd Annual Fulton Speedway Victoria 200 Paying $25,00 to the Winner

FULTON, NY - With the regular point racing season now over at Fulton Speedway for the DIRTcar Modifieds, focus is now shifting to the 22nd running of the Victoria 200 Weekend scheduled from September 27-29 and with that comes an important deadline concerning Modified pre-entries.

The deadline for the lower $50 pre-entry fee is September 15, and after that the pre-entry fee goes up to $80. All entries must be postmarked or delivered, with payment, to the speedway by the cutoff date. All entries must be filled out completely, including driver and owner information, to be considered valid. There will be no refunds on entries, and each driver may only enter one (1) car. The new 1-car limit is designed to give all drivers and race teams a fair shot at qualifying and doing well at the Victoria 200. Teams with more than one car on hand will not simply be able to “buy” a better draw, and track management wants the process to be as fair as possible to everyone, including the little guy.

Annually, the Victoria 200 draws the best Modified drivers in the Northeast to do battle on the high banks of the Fulton Speedway to contest for the $25,000 plus top prize. This year’s edition, scheduled for September 29, will again boast one of the most competitive and diverse fields of Modified drivers assembled across the entire Northeast.

The 2006 Victoria 200 saw Danny Johnson rush into the lead after the halfway break as raindrops began falling. Tim Fuller and Johnson swapped the top spot several times before Johnson retook the lead as the rain intensified. Johnson was deemed the race winner with the race complete at lap 128 with heavy rains falling, the first ever rain-shortened event. Fuller was forced to settle for second with Pat Ward in third. The remainder of the top ten in the fall classic was 1994 winner Dale Planck, Billy Decker, Mitch Gibbs, multi-time winner Alan Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Vic Coffey, and Brett Hearn.

The 22nd Annual Victoria 200 Weekend begins on Thursday September 27 with the Modifieds being featured in a Victoria 200 Mini-Series 35-lap, $2,000 to win race plus the World Products Empire State IMCA Modified Series and the ESDCA Mod Lite Doug Cooper 36-lap Memorial Race. Hot laps for all divisions plus a gigantic pit party with a band will also be held in the new extended show for 2007.

Friday September 28 will bring on Fulton Speedway’s weekly support divisions with the Gater Racing News / Motorsports Expo 2008 Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series 30-lapper plus the Leaf Racewear Pro Stock Super DIRTcar Series 30 and the Mr. DIRTcar Street Stock Super Series 30. Drivers in the Sportsman, Pro Stock and Street Stock divisions will once again not have to fill out an entry form, simply just pay $20 to draw/enter their car. Hot laps for the Modifieds will also be held in final preparation for the Victoria 200.

Saturday is set for the granddaddy of them all, the famous fall classic held annually at Fulton Speedway known as the “Victoria 200”. Saturday will feature nothing but the Modifieds with the grandstand area drivers meeting / heat draw, heat races, consolations, All-Star Last Chance Race, and the $25,000 plus to win Victoria 200.

The Victoria 200 in 2007 will be an unsanctioned event put on by Fulton Speedway weekly race officials who only wish to see a fair event for all competitors. With that, each driver may only enter the race once with one car and if you do not qualify, you go home. Only two drivers will be guaranteed, one of whom is Jimmy Phelps representing the Brewerton Speedway Victoria Mini-Series and another who will be decided to represent the Fulton Speedway Victoria Mini-Series on Friday September 28. The only insurance policy a driver may have to qualify for the Victoria 200 after all the heats and consis are over, is any driver who holds a guaranteed starting spot in the All-Star Last Chance Race which advances several more drivers into the 200 starting field.

The exciting rules package for the Modifieds will be sure to draw drivers from all over the Northeastern United States and into the provinces of Canada. The Modifieds may run any 13” by 92” Dirt Modified type tire (No Late Model tires), sail panels on the tail of the car, and any engine up to 500ci. This opens the event up to all-star status to as many possible drivers and cars from all over.

The real buzz surrounding the 2007 edition of the Victoria 200 for the drivers is the purse for the event and weekend. Over $25,000 will go to the winner of the 200-lap grind with lap money added. Plus, with another $2,000 going to the winner of the Thursday evening 35-lap Modified event, a driver could very well go home with over $30,000 in prize money.

Sunday September 30 has been set aside as the Victoria 200 Weekend raindate.

Entry forms, schedule information, admission prices, camping rules, and much more are available online at www.victoria200.com. The speedway office phone number is (315) 593-6531 and the track website is www.fultonspeedway.com.
