The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in association with East Bay Raceway Park and Golden Isles Speedway have joined together to offer drivers big incentives for the 2008 Speedweeks at the two venues.
A special speedweeks points fund will be offered to drivers who compete at all sixteen events in 2008 at Golden Isles Speedway and East Bay Raceway during speedweeks. Drivers that compete at Golden Isles Speedway's "Super Bowl of Racing" starting on January 23rd and running through February 2nd will earn points each night of the ten nights at Golden Isles Speedway and carry their points over to the six nights of racing at East Bay Raceway starting February 4th and running through February 10th. After the final night of racing at East Bay Raceway Park on Saturday February 10th, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials will crown the Speedweeks Points Champion and pay out cash and product certificates to the top 15 drivers in the special speedweeks points fund.
This combined effort by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Golden Isles Speedway and East Bay Raceway Park will offer drivers huge incentives to race for in the 2008 Speedweeks. In addition to the top 15 drivers receiving cash and product awards for their points total over the 16 days of racing, Frankie Lloyd owner of a Golden Isles Speedway will pay out a cash award of $10,000 to the driver that earns the most points over the ten days of racing at Golden Isles Speedway.
"We are excited to be a part of this joint effort that the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has put together between our track and East Bay Raceway Park. We feel it will be a win-win situation for all the drivers, fans and sponsors of this deal. Golden Isles Speedway will be paying out a lot of money over the ten days of racing including paying the feature winner every night during the "Super Bowl of Racing" $10,000," stated Frankie Lloyd of Golden Isles Speedway. "We will also have a special day on Sunday, January 27th with no racing scheduled for that day and feed all the racers and their crews for free and provide some live music entertainment at the track on that Sunday," Frankie went onto say.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will again sanction the East Bay Raceway Park "Winternationals" beginning Monday February 4th and running through February 10th. East Bay Raceway Park has added a few new incentives for the drivers for the 2008 events including raising the winner's purse money on the Thursday night show from $7,000 to win last year to $10,000 to win in 2008. In addition Todd Hutto of East Bay Raceway Park has announced a special reduced week long pit pass for the drivers and crews that compete all six nights at the "Winternationals.
"Myself and everyone at East Bay Raceway Park are really excited about this joint effort the Lucas Series has put together for 2008. The special Speedweeeks point fund will offer drivers additional monies and products to run for on top of the purse monies each night. We have also listened to the drivers request to start later in the day in 2008 and we will implement a later starting time in this years speedweeks events," stated Todd Hutto from East Bay Raceway Park. This special speedweeks points fund and joint venture with Golden Isles Speedway will make the 2008 Speedweeks a tremendous event for dirt late model racing", Todd Hutto went onto say.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials will work closely with Golden Isles Speedway to calculate and transfer the points earned at Golden Isles Speedway and carry them over to the six nights of racing at East Bay Raceway Park. The new 2008 Speedweeks Champion will be crowned on Saturday February 10th and the top 15 drivers during speedweeks will receive cash and product. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will return and sanction an event at Golden Isles Speedway later in the 2008 racing season.
"We have worked really hard on this deal for 2008 between Golden Isles Speedway and East Bay. With the increased purse monies, added awards and a special points fund for 2008, the speedweeks annual event will draw all the top drivers from all over the country. The Series is excited to be going to Golden Isles Speedway this year and hopefully we can build on it each year. I want to thank Frankie Lloyd and Todd Hutto for their willingness to put this deal together to make this the biggest Speedweek event ever in the history of Dirt Late Model racing", stated Ritchie Lewis, series director for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
