Newberrytown, PA (September 15, 2007) – The final round of Stock Car Saturday Night at the Susquehanna Speedway Park found Bud Witmer of Dover winning the 20-lap Late Model feature event as Carl Billet, Jr. claimed the 2007 Late Model track championship. Lebanon ’s Dustin Hollinger edged out Scott Thunberg in the Street Stock class as Paul Morgan from Halifax clinched the 2007 Street Stock track championship. The ARDC Midgets returned to SSP with York ’s Drew Heistand picking up his 2nd career Midget win and first of the season at SSP. In Four Cylinder Stock Car action, Grant Adams of Ono picked up his fourth straight SSP feature event as Fredericksburg ’s Ed Hollenbach secured the 2007 Four Cylinder Stock Car track championship. Schnecksville’s Jason Rochelle led all 20 laps of the Legends Cars feature event to win his first of the season at SSP. The track championships for the ARDC Midgets and Legends Cars will be decided on Saturday, October 27 at the Candy Bowl.
Next Saturday night, September 22, Smashfest ’07 will be on tap with a Small Car Demolition Derby, School Bus Demolition Derby, three classes of Tuff Truck competition, Roll Over Contest, Wall of Fire stunt and more. There will be a gigantic fireworks display following the show. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and the show begins at 7:00 p.m. Pre-event qualifying for the Tuff Trucks will take place in the late afternoon. General admission for Adults and Teens (13 & older) are $12.00 with children (12 & under) free.
During the day, the 9th Annual Newberry Community Fair Day begins with opening ceremonies at 9:00 a.m. and the fair will conclude at 5:00 p.m. All proceeds from this event will benefit the four (4) township fire companies ( Goldsboro , Lewisberry, Newberry and York Haven), the Red Land Senior Center and the Red Land Community Library). A wide variety of food will be available from the local fire companies and businesses will include breakfast, chicken bar-b-que, hamburgers, hot dogs, ham & cheese sandwiches, hot sausages, chicken corn soup, seafood, pizza, baked goods and more. Kid’s will be entertained with a variety of games all day long that include a candy scramble and relay races. Admission to the fair is free as well as free parking.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles NW on SR382 to York Road , then 1.3 miles south.
