West Lebanon , NY : Pepsi Presented a night full of action that included the conclusion to the rain delayed Coors National 200, along with a couple of big payday races for the other divisions. First up was the $1,000.00 to win CR Concrete Sportsman feature.
With the track temperatures remaining cool, the air was full of heat, as the green flag dropped on the 30 lap Sportsman feature. Out front the #16 of Kyle Hoffman took the early lead, and the only leader that anyone else would see. With co cautions to slow the field, the Hoffman Carpentry #16 packed his bags headed to victory lane.
The $1,000 payday went right in Kyle’s pocket as he held the victory lane check for photos. “This is as close to the money as my dad is gonna get”, joked Hoffman. Finishing 2nd in the green to checkers affair was Chris Tryon, followed by Frank Harper, Kory Sandstedt, and Art Collins to complete the top 5.
Jeff Watson captured his 2nd Sportsman Points Championship following the completion of the 30 laps. Watson held on for 60 markers of 2nd place Hoffman. 3rd was Chris Tryon, Frank Harper finished 4th, and Danny Sanchez squeezed into the top 5. The full points rundown can be found on our website mentioned below.
The Pro Stock feature was also looking to be a sleeper, as the green flag flew on the 1st Annual Liberty Nation 60 Lap Pro Stock feature. Chris Crews jumped out into the early lead with his familiar #5. Back in the field, the rest of the competitors were struggling to get a hold on the now slick track.
A couple of early cautions slowed the field, mainly due to ill-handling cars and spins. Even the defending point champion Rob Yetman struggled to get a grip on the track, he later spun on lap 24, making contact with the inside backstretch wall, ending his night.
By lap 30, the competition caution flew for all drivers to come down pit road and fuel up there rides for the last 30 lap dash. After a short 10 minute rest, it was back to green with the #5 of Crews still out front. The caution flew once again for the Kraft Maid #115 of Dave Teidman, as he grenaded a transmission on the frontstretch, causing a tense moment as a small fire erupted.
Once the debris was cleaned up, it was back to work for Crews. In the later laps of the event, Kevin Arnold began to put some pressure on Crews, but it was not going to be enough. At the stripe it was Crews crossing the line first, but following the mandatory post-race weigh in, Crews’ #5 came up 30lbs short of his target weight, handing the win, and the $1,500.00 payday to the 2007 Pro Stock Points Champion Kevin Arnold.
Following Arnold was the #38M of Mike Middleton, the #24 of Robbie Speed, the #322 of Jason Casey, and the #324 of Jay Casey.
Dave Colwell took the Limited Pro Stock feature for his 3rd of 2007. Nick Hilt captured the 2007 Points Championship in the Limited Pro Stocks.
The Pure Stocks had the usual 8 lap features with PS# 1 going to Jery Helms Jr., PS# 2 went to Tim Sayers, and PS#3 went to Jay Casey.
The 1st Annual Johnny O Memorial 20 lap Dash was captured by Tim Sayers for a $250.00 payday.
