KIRKWOOD, NY…The 2007 racing season is quickly winding down which means there are only a few limited opportunities to “Get to the Point” this season. Five Mile Point Speedway management has announced a three race Dart Pure Stock fall series as part of the fall schedule of racing. The next event at the quarter mile is Saturday, October 6th at 6 p.m.
The three race Dart Fall Pure Stock Series will see three special events for the budget racers with plenty of bonuses and incentives on the line. If a driver is able to win all three of these final fall events they will receive a $1,000 bonus. The driver that accumulates the most points over the three races will receive a $500 bonus.
Race one will take place on Saturday, October 6th at the quarter mile. This evening of racing was added after a rainout back on September 8th. The unique race format will really reward the Pure Stock teams. The race program will feature final season ending point races for the Sportsman, Pure Stocks, Lightning Cats and A League of Their Own. The 99.1 the Whale Figure 8’s will also be in action. After the completion of that program, the Pure Stock teams will draw for qualifying position and begin their own new program The Dart 30 lap event will pay $400 to the winner. The teams can take advantage of the early program to get setup for the first series point race.
On October 6th the Pure Stock drivers and their crews will only have to purchase one pit pass to compete in both races. Drivers will just have to file a $15 entry for the 30 lap Dart series race. In essence teams will get two races for the price of one.
The second race will occur as part of the National Quarter Mile Dirt Track Championship Weekend on Saturday, October 13th. The 40 lap Northeast Pure Stock Championship will pay $600 to the race winner. Racing gets underway that day at 2 p.m.
Round three will take place on Saturday, October 27th. The annual Southern Tier Showdown will pay $1,000 to the race winner. This will be the final race of the series and of the 2007 FMP race season. That day will also see the annual Racer’s Flea Market during the day. Racing gets underway at 4 p.m.
The Dart Pure Stock three race fall championship trail will certainly be a great way to wrap up the 2007 season for the Pure Stock teams. The class always puts on a great show at the Point and the top invaders will be looking to try and steal some of the cash from the locals.
