Sellout Crowd for 1st Annual Eve of Destruction presented by JC Auto at New Humberstone Speedway

The staff of The New Humberstone Speedway had t be on their “A” game this past Sunday night on their 1st annual Eve of Destruction Race presented by JC Auto. Pit gate staff had to sign in over 120 drivers and 193 cars into their pits. While grandstand workers sold tickets to the standing room only crowd.



The winner of the 50 lap enduro was Aaron Wiley, 2nd Steve Brooker and Joe Swinson rounding out top 3.



Blindfold race is a race where the driver will have a passenger in the car, and the passenger has to guide the driver around the track while the driver has a paper bag over his head. Winner of this event was Kevin Clow, Nick Dama and Rick Beales, in second and third respectfully.



In the 10 lap trailer race, in this race the car has to have a trailer hooked up at the hitch at all times. This trailer race had boats and motor homes hooked up to their cars. Winner of this event was Rob Knapp.



Sometimes driving forwards is stressful enough, but we also held a backwards race, which is exactly the way it sounds. Drivers had to drive backwards for this 12 lap event. Joe Swinson was the winner.



The Rollover Contest was won by the professional rollover king Mike Pahl



The flag pole race was won by sportsman driver Rob Knapp, followed by Rick Beales and Chris Houtby



The figure 8 race was won by Rick Beales.



Roller Derby was won by Derek Martin.



An impromptu ladies enduro, seen 2007 Weekend Warrior Champion Lenie Sliter go over on one side and rookie Ministock competitor Katie Cosco captured the checkered flag.



The ever popular bus race was won by the short school bus driven Rachel Schneider.



Small Car Demo was won by Tanya Leblanc, while the big car demo was won by T.J Singer.



The overall Eve of Destruction Champion for the second year in a row was Rick Beales.

The New Humberstone Speedway was forced to reschedule their Trevor Wilkens Sportsman DIRT Trail Show because of Mother Nature on September 9th; the new date will be September 29th. Added to the September 29th show is the Streetstock for a non point’s race and the Trucks VS Ministock Battle. Show starts at 4:30 with hot laps being at 4:00pm . Pit Gates Open at 2:30pm and grandstand gates at 3. Admission is $15.00 adults, $13.50 seniors, $5.00 children, 7 and under Free.
