FULTON, NY – Eastern New York will be represented at the 2007 Victoria 200 on September 29 at Fulton Speedway by none other than the popular brothers Ricci. Mike and Rich Ricci Jr. are planning on a full assault to win the $25,000 plus pile of cash on the line in the Victoria 200, an event they have been a huge part of over its 22 year history. Both drivers were extremely enticed by the new Victoria 200 rules package which features sail panels, any 92” by 13” Dirt Modified type tire, and a weight break for 358-Modifieds.
Rich Ricci Jr. hails from New Paltz, New York and was the track champion this season at Accord Speedway. Rich will be driving the Apple Greens Golf Course, ALE Construction No. 406r Troyer machine. His last start in the Victoria 200 came in 2001 when he finished 23rd. Rich has two Victoria 200 podium finishes, finishing third to Billy Pauch and Toby Tobias Jr. in 1989 and second to Tom Kinsella in 1995.
Mike Ricci comes to Fulton Speedway from a hometown of Tillson, New York and will be driving the Dirt Work Pinegrove Ranch No. 1R PMC chassis in the Victoria 200. Mike sits in tenth in all-time Victoria 200 points with a best finish of third in 1988 to Billy Pauch and Mike Arminio. He also finished a solid fifth in the 1989 running, putting the brothers both into the top five that season. His last Victoria 200 start was in 2002 when he finished 34th.
Some of the other early entrants for the $25,000 plus to win Victoria 200 include two-time winner Tom Kinsella, Brett Hearn, Billy Decker, Pat Ward, Jimmy Phelps, Jim Mahaney, Bobby Varin, Brian Weaver, A.J. Romano, four-time champion Alan Johnson, Steve Paine, and Willy Decker. Many entries are coming in to the Fulton Speedway on a daily basis, and track management will be releasing a complete pre-entry list late in the evening on Monday September 24.
The 22nd Annual Victoria 200 Weekend begins on Thursday September 27 with the Modifieds being featured in a Victoria 200 Mini-Series 35-lap, $2,000 to win race plus the World Products Empire State IMCA Modified Series 25 and the ESDCA Mod Lite Doug Cooper 36-lap Memorial Race. Hot laps for all divisions plus a gigantic pit party with a band will also be held in the new extended show for 2007.
Friday September 28 will bring on Fulton Speedway’s weekly support divisions with the Gater Racing News / Motorsports Expo 2008 Sportsman Super DIRTcar Series 30-lapper plus the Leaf Racewear Pro Stock Super DIRTcar Series 30 and the Mr. DIRTcar Street Stock Super Series 30. Hot laps for the Modifieds will also be held in final preparation for the Victoria 200.
Saturday is set for the granddaddy of them all, the famous fall classic held annually at Fulton Speedway known as the “Victoria 200”. Saturday will feature nothing but the Modifieds with the grandstand area drivers meeting / heat draw, heat races, consolations, All-Star Last Chance Race, and the $25,000 plus to win Victoria 200. Sunday September 30 is set aside as the weekend raindate.
