NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (September 19, 2007) – On Saturday, September 22, the Susquehanna Speedway Park will host the 9th Annual Newberry Community Fair and Smashfest ’07. The Newberry Community Fair Day begins with opening ceremonies at 9:00 a.m. and the fair will conclude at 5:00 p.m. All proceeds from this event will benefit the four (4) township fire companies ( Goldsboro , Lewisberry, Newberry and York Haven), the Red Land Senior Center and the Red Land Community Library.
There will be plenty of fun for the entire family with food vendors, tractor hay rides, School Bus rides, helicopter rides, fire company displays, exotic petting zoo featuring Bob’s Critters, presentations, crafts and more. There will be an auto auction for at least 3 vehicles presented at 4:30 p.m.
A wide variety of food will be available from the local fire companies and businesses will include breakfast, chicken bar-b-que, hamburgers, hot dogs, ham & cheese sandwiches, hot sausages, chicken corn soup, seafood, pizza, baked goods and more.
There will also be a display of racecars and any driver wishing to display their car will receive two complimentary tickets to the evening’s Smashfest show. Set up is between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Then on Saturday night, Smashfest ’07 will be on tap with a Small Car Demolition Derby, School Bus Demolition Derby, three classes of wild and exciting Tuff Truck competition, a spectacular Roll Over Contest, a Wall of Fire stunt and more. There will be a gigantic fireworks display following the show. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and the show begins at 7:00 p.m. Pre-event qualifying for the Tuff Trucks will take place in the late afternoon. General admission for Adults and Teens (13 & older) are $12.00 with children (12 & under) free. Pit passes at $20 for ages 14 and older.
The Tuff Trucks rules will be enforced in accordance with the specification rules of The Buck in Lancaster , PA (www.buckmotrosports.com). For more information and to enter the competition, contact Rick Roeske at 717-679-6300. Each class (2wd, 4wd and Open Comp) will pay the following purse: 1) $300; 2) $150; 3) $75; 4) $50; 5) $25. There will be a runoff finale for the top three in each class paying $100 to the winner of the final showdown. There is a $25.00 entry fee for each class and the pit pass included in the first entry fee paid. Trophies will be presented to the winner in each class. A special practice session will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for all Tuff Truck competitors.
The rules for the Small Car Demolition Derby will pay $300 to the winner, $150 for second and $50 for third place. The Rollover Contest will pay $200 to win as each entrant will have three attempts at the ramp with the winner scoring the most points on a single attempt. There will be a $25 entry fee (includes pit pass) for both the Small Car Demo Derby and Rollover Contest. Rules may be found at www.sspracing.net.
Gates open for Smashfest ‘07 in the pit area at 1:00 p.m. and grandstands at 5:00 p.m. with the show beginning promptly at 7:00 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, September 23 for both the Community Fair and Smashfest ‘06.

SSP Pit Notes
- 2nd Annual Susquehanna Showdown Entry Form Available – The 2nd Annual Susquehanna Showdown will feature 50-lap feature for the 358 Late Models paying a possible $30,000 to win on Saturday night, September 29 at the Susquehanna Speedway Park . The race is presented by Miller’s Racing Parts, Insinger Fuels and W$W Racing Tires. The winner is guaranteed $5,000 to win with the chance to win an additional $25,000 in victory lane. KRS Graphics will provide $250 to the Hard Charger of the race. Other bonus prizes are available from Bernheisel Racecars; Superior Homes of Lancaster ; AFCO Racing Products; Miller’s Racing Parts and KRS Graphics. Late Model heat races are presented by Blazer’s Body Shop and pay $25.00 to win, $15.00 for second and $10.00 for third.
There will also be a 35-lap AMRA/UMP/E-Mod/IMCA Modified Challenge race paying $1,200 to win along with a Mini Van double point special race.
An entry fee is required and an entry form may be downloaded from ww.sspracing.net. Specification rules may also be found on the Susquehanna Showdown Flyer on the Website.
On Saturday, gates will open for both the pit area at 3:30 p.m. and the grandstands at 4:00 p.m. Practice begins at 5:15 p.m. with racing action beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Grandstand ticket prices are $12.00 for adults and teens (13 years of age and older) and children (12 & under) are free. All children (12 & under) will receive a gift certificate good for an ice cream dessert compliments of any participating Applebee’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill. Pit pass prices are $25.00 with a minimum age requirement of 14 years of age. The raindate is Sunday, September 30 if needed.
There will be an open practice for all SSP classes on Friday Night, September 28. All types of full size racecars may attend the open practice which includes Sprint Cars, Super Sportsman, Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Classic Cars, Vintage Cars. Even full size racecars that are not currently scheduled at SSP may participate as all classes will rotate with track time throughout the evening. The only smaller than full size racecars that will be permitted are the Legends Cars, Four Cylinders, 600cc Micro Sprints and ARDC Midgets.
On Friday, gates open at 4:30 p.m. with open practice from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The grandstands will be open for free to the public during the practice session. The cost for the pits will be $12.00 per person with a minimum age requirement of 14 years of age.
- Postponed 358 Sprint Car Event – The twice postponed 358 Sprint Car event (May 27 & August 19) will not be made up in 2007 due to no suitable dates for the remainder of the season. All competitors and fans with rainchecks (tickets and pit passes) from May 27 may be used for any remaining event at SSP this season. If a fan or competitor does not use it through the end of the season, they may return it to the SSP Home Offices after Monday, November 13 by mail requesting a refund or they may keep it for the 2008 season and use it for a scheduled 358 Sprint Car race.
- Racecar Flea Market on Saturday, November 3 – SSP will host a racecar flea market with all forms of racing welcome on Saturday, November 3. Vendor fees are $10.00 per day and setup begins at 8:00 p.m. on Friday night. Plenty of “bargains“ for the 2008 season will be available.
- SSP Competitor's Link Section Added to SSP Website - Let your fans know the latest info on your team! If you're a regular ARDC, Late Model, Street Stock, Xtreme Stock Cars or other regular SSP series competitor and have a website, e-mail the link of your web site to our webmaster at tvr1@comcast.net, so we can include you in this new section.
- Information About “The Outback” Track at SSP – The Outback Track at SSP is still currently under construction for Quarter Midgets, karts and more. The days of operation will be Saturday during the daytime hours. As work continues, the first open practice date has been pushed back to a date to be announced based on the delivery of the clay.
Competitive racing is set to begin after a few practice dates have been completed. The classes/types of cars or karts will be developed during the open practice sessions. Details will continue to be released as they become finalized.
