Brad Rapp and the Rapp Racing Team are looking to close out the 2007 racing season in victory lane. The team will compete at the Little Valley Speedway, located in Little Valley, NY, this Saturday, September 22nd. The 25 lap feature event is sanctioned by the T3 All Star Series and will pay $2,000.00 to win. Brad and the entire Rapp Racing Team would love to defeat the stars of the New York Series at one of their home state tracks!!
The 18 year old Rapp recently began his engineering studies at Westminster College. In addition to his academic career Brad is also continuing his football career at the college. Brad’s football commitments forced the Rapp Racing Team to take several weeks off from their racing action but the team did close out the month of August with a successful run at the Mercer Raceway Park. Brad missed the heat race action due to an afternoon football practice but was able to make it to the speedway in time to change into his fire suit and tag the 22 car field. The determined teenager was able to methodically work his way through the field and capture a fine fifth place finish!!
The following weekend the Rapp Racing Team traveled to the Woodhull Speedway in Woodhull, NY. The four hour trip was somewhat disappointing as the team was unable to get the handle on a setup for the slick highbanks of the New York oval. Brad finished a disappointing 13th but the team was able to gain some valuable experience that will definitely improve their slick track setup.
Brad headed back to the classroom the following week and with the Westminster Titans playing another away game Brad was able to compete at the Mercer Raceway Park’s final regular event on Saturday, September 8th. The Rapp Racing 11R captured a second place finish in heat race action. The track’s handicapping system found Brad starting in the sixth position for the 20 lap feature event. By lap 15 of the non-stop event Brad had moved into the runner-up position. A late race pass by a fellow competitor found the Clarion, PA youngster bringing home a respectable third place finish. In addition Brad was able to finish seventh in the final point standings at the speedway in spite of the fact that the team missed five nights of points action.
Following this weekend’s race at the Little Valley Speedway Brad and the app Racing Team will close out the 2007 season at the area’s premier Small Block event, the Little Guy Nationals, which will be held at the Mercer Raceway Park on Friday, September 28th and Saturday, September 29th.
The team is also very excited about the reopening of the Sportsman’s Speedway in Knox, PA. The speedway is just ten miles from the Rapp Racing Team’s shop and the 11R Team has captured quite a few feature wins at the speedway over the years.
Brad and the Rapp Racing Team would like to thank Vinyl Graphics Unlimited, West Penn Orthopaedics, the Fryburg Sportsman Club, Auto and Truck Specialties, Dave’s Tilt Bed and Storage, S&W Auto Body, Riverhill Battery House, Gor-Den Racing Engines, Precise Racing Products, Finishline Fabricating and Ringer’s Gloves.
