Rob Curtis and The Curtis Race Team ended their 2007 season by competing at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, September 22nd. Since it was “FAN Appreciation Night” the speedway management decided to start the evening with a “Crack The Whip” race for the Modifieds instead of the normal heat race action. This change in the program meant that Rob would not have much time on the track before the 25 lap feature event. Rob and The Curtis Race Team were determined to make the most of their final evening of competition and after finishing ninth in the preliminary event the crew made several adjustments to the 2006 Troyer Chassis for the feature event.
The speedway management had a redraw for the feature event and “Lady Luck” was smiling upon Rob as the redraw found the Greenville Gun and Supply/Lias Tire/Denny’s Restaurant/McCann’s Power Coating/Open Signs/Beto’s Pizza/Intense Fabrication/Hine Racing Engines/The Body Shop(Jamestown, PA) #86 starting in the second position. Rob quickly jumped into the lead and led the first nine circuits before he was overtaken by a fellow competitor. A broken rear shock, along with a torsion bar that went bad and a faulty steering box found the Greenville, PA driver spinning on “Lucky Lap 13.” Undeterred by the adversity Rob persevered and worked his way back to a very respectable tenth place finish. It was not the evening The Curtis Race Team had hoped to have but just the same Rob and the entire crew were able to learn some valuable information about the 2006 Troyer Chassis. “We know now that this car will work,” said Rob. “Myself, Larry Riffe, Rob McElhaney and the entire crew are pleased that our hard work paid off. We are going to spend the next several months fine tuning this car as well as the 2007 Troyer Chassis. Everyone at Curtis Racing is determined to make 2008 our best year ever.”
Rob and The Curtis Race Team would once again like to announce that they have secured the following firms as marketing partners for the 2008 racing season:
· Hyperco
· Valvoline
· Awesome Racewear
· Crow Enterprizes
“We are going to spend the next several months solidifying our marketing partnerships for 2008. Myself and the entire staff of Curtis Racing are committed to making the team a serious threat to win each time we take to the track,” stated Rob. “In the past few weeks it has been a pleasure to work with Kelly Falls, Kris Weldy and the entire staff of Hyperco. We welcome them to The Curtis Race Team and are looking forward to a long and successful relationship with everyone at Hyperco,” stated an ecstatic Curtis.
The Curtis Race Team is also very excited to welcome Valvoline back for 2008. Bob Blank and the entire Valvoline staff have been loyal supporters of The Curtis Race Team in the past and we certainly look forward to working with them once again.
