FASTRAK NORTHEAST ANNOUNCES 2007 CHAMPIONS & GRAND NATIONALS ROSTER;
MORE THAN $50,000 UP FOR GRABS IN TENNESSEE

Pulaski, PA
The inaugural season for the much-talked about FASTRAK
Northeast Late Model Series concluded with its final race on
September 28 at McKean County Raceway. That event had a three-part
bearing in wrapping up the Touring Series points, the McKean weekly
points, and awarding points for Night 1 of the Grand Nationals.
"The 2007 season faced many challenges," acknowledged Northeast Co-
Director Mike Leone. "The most important aspect FASTRAK accomplished
in the Northeast was credibility and momentum that will be carried
over to next season. The racing was great and competitiveness was
amazing with everyone on the $125 long-lasting Goodyear tires and
$3,000 or $5,000 GM engine. We wish all of our competitors heading
to the Grand Nationals the best of luck in their shot at the $50,000
national championship. "
Alan Dellinger drove the Bob Williams-owned #8 to the 2007 Touring
Series Championship. The Hermitage, Pa. driver scored his only win
at Lakeville (OH) Speedway on June 23, but never finished worse than
sixth place taking the $5,000 top prize by 25 points over three-time
winner Dick Barton, who failed to attend the very race that Dellinger
won.
Three tracks shared the Friday night billing for the FASTRAK Late
Models. Though Barton came up shy on the Touring Series, the
Ashville, New York racer won six times at Ohio's Raceway 7 in the
#28B. Barton out-gained two-time winner John Watson by 25 points in
route to the $1,000 FASTRAK money. Dave Padula of Greencastle, Pa.
was an eight-time winner at Dog Hollow Speedway in his #112 earning
the inaugural title by 121 points over Chris Knuth. New York's
Freedom Raceway went to Greg Oakes of Franklinville, New York. The
former E-Mod standout won three times in his #22 earning the title by
just 12 over former Sprint Car racer Kyle Drum. Saturday night
racing was contested at McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, Pa.
and Oakes was also able to win the $1,000 FASTRAK money there as
well. Though he was shutout of victory lane, he did win the points
by 13 over one-time winner Jim Frank.
With the racing now concluded here in the Northeast Region.
Attention shifts to Night 2 and Night 3 of the Grand Nationals, which
will bring the entire 11 Regions across the nation together to
determine the $50,000 National Champion and disburse the $250,000
national point fund. Mountain Raceway Park in Marysville, Tennessee
will hold practice on Wednesday, October 17 followed by a $2,000,
$400 to-start event on Thursday, October 18 with a rain date of
Friday, October 19. Action then shifts to Volunteer Speedway in
Bulls Gap, Tennessee with an open practice on October 19 (pending the
completion of Night 2 on Thursday) followed by a $2,000 to-win, $400
to-start event on October 20 with a rain date of October 21.
For Grand National points, FASTRAK members received 3-2-1 for the top
three positions at their respective track or Touring Series plus one
point for competing in 51% of the completed races, and another point
for competing in all completed events for a maximum of five points.
This year, the goal was stand-alone events in each region for Night 1
of the Grand Nationals. Because of the late timing and being the
inaugural season in the Northeast, a stand-alone event was not
possible so the September 28 event at McKean County served as Night 1
for the Northeast Region. Eligible FASTRAK members received Grand
National points for where they finished in the feature. These
drivers will take these points with them and join in with the rest of
the nation for Night 2 and 3 of the Grand Nationals. The maximum
point amount for any driver heading into Night 1 across the nation is
40.
