Jim Bernheisel Finishes Virginia Swing With Two Top-Tens

Posted by Late Model Editor | 10/12/07

DMB Motorsports driver and Lazer Chassis builder Jim Bernheisel spent their last two weekends in the state of Virginia as they visited Winchester Speedway on September 28th and 29th for the ‘Winchester 200’ as well as Natural Bridge Speedway in Natural Bridge, VA for the $5,000 to win ‘Fall Classic’ on October 5th and 6th.

After qualifying 15th quickest and finishing third in his heat, Jim was slated to start the ‘Winchester 200’ in the 15th position. Jim had worked his way up to the spot at one point in his Bernheisel Race Components / Edge Racing Engines / Morrissey’s Meats / Advanced Development / Catoctin Development Lazer Chassis GTO but settled for the sixth position at the finish after making contact with a tire on the inside of the speedway.

The following weekend Bernheisel entered the ‘Fall Classic’ at Natural Bridge Speedway. During practice the DMB Motorsports ‘black cloud’ reappeared as the push rod broke in Jim’s primary race car. The team pulled out the backup car (Bryan’s Blue #119) for qualifying. Bernheisel set the 18th fastest time in and finished third in his heat race after the team made the proper adjustments to Bryan’s car. Jim started the 50-lap main event tenth and unfortunately got caught up in a scuffle early in the race. After fixing some cosmetic damage, Bernheisel was able to muster a fourth place finish. “The way it’s been most of the season and the way the weekend started, I should be happy with a fourth place finish,” mentioned Jim. “It’s hard to say what our potential was…we had a great car before we got crossed up. I had to slide it too much after the wreck because the car wouldn’t turn. All in all, we’ll take it,” concluded Bernheisel.

DMB Motorsports drivers Jim and Bryan Bernheisel will be back in action on Sunday, October 14th at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, NJ for their $5,000 to win special.
