BRIAN SWARTZLANDER WINS BIG BLOCK MODIFIED CHALLENGE SERIES TITLE

FRANKLIN, PA .. Brian Swartzlander of Leechburg, Pa., captured the
Big Block Modified Challenge Series title this season. The five-race
series included three events at Lernerville Speedway and two events at
Tri-City Speedway. This season's series was sponsored by Schwab's Ford of
Titusville, Pa., Precise Racing Products of Grove City, Pa., and Teo
Pro Cars of Vernon, N.J.
Despite one series victory in 2007, Swartzlander captured the $1,000
title over Del Rougeux Jr. of Frenchville, Pa., and Russell King of
Bristolville, Ohio. King's father, Rex, and two-time defending
Lernerville champion Dave Murdick of Slippery Rock, Pa., rounded out the top five
in points.
Russell King opened the 2007 winning the BRP Modified Tour Dick
Rankin Memorial on May 27th at Tri-City Speedway. Defending series champion
Kevin Bolland of New Brighton, Pa., followed with a win in
Lernerville's BRP Modified Tour event on June 1st. Swartzlander then won a 25-lap
holiday special at Lernerville on June 15th. Rougeux followed with a
victory in the BRP Modified Tour Kodiak Memorial at Tri-City on July
15th. Rex King then won the Joe Pitkavish Memorial at Lernerville on July
27th.
All five races offered larger purses with the winner's share ranging
from $1,200 to $2,000. Each event was also an extra distance affair up
to 30 laps.
Swartzlander will collect $1,000 for his title during the 2008
banquet season. Del Rougeux Jr. ($400), Russell King ($300), Rex King ($200)
and Dave Murdick ($100) will also earn point awards.
