Heydenreich Wins the 3rd Annual J&K Salvage Candy Bowl in ARDC Midgets at SSP on Sunday Afternoon: Marks, Rochelle, Wagaman, Taft, Knaub also Victorious

Newberrytown, PA (October 28, 2007) - The 3rd Annual Candy Bowl presented by J&K Salvage of York Sunday afternoon at the Susquehanna Speedway Park found Eric Heydenrich pulling off a late race pass to pick up his first career SSP win. Brent Marks won the 600cc Micro Sprint main event. Jason Rochelle won his third straight Candy Bowl in the Legends Cars and Craig Wagaman won the Lincoln Thundercar feature. Mike Taft won the Speedway Auto Sales Mini Van feature and Kendra Knaub won the Women on Wheels Stock Car feature. Racing events were postponed on Saturday night due to rain and heavily saturated grounds, moving the action to Sunday afternoon.

Frank Polimeda jumped out to the early lead in the 20-lap ARDC Midget feature. Polimeda led the first 17 laps with pressure from Eric Heydenreich. On lap 18 Heydenreich slid by Polimeda on the high side and went on to pick up his first SSP win of his career over Polimeda. Tracy Readinger finished third, followed by Drew Heistand and Nick Wean.

The 600cc Micro Sprint Car feature event went non-stop in a time of 4 minutes, 36.12 seconds. Jimmy Brookens took the lead early in the quick race. On lap 18, Brookens was caught up behind three laps cars giving Brent Marks enough room to take the lead and the victory over Brookens. Joining Marks and Brookens on the frontstretch for post race ceremonies was third place finisher Mike Freed. Jan Lickenbaugh and Aaron Spahr rounded out the top five.

The 20-lap Legends Cars feature began with Denny Wiley taking the lead on the first lap over Scott Houdeshell. On the next lap, Houdeshell took the lead for the next ten laps until Jason Rochelle passed him on the 13th circuit. Jason Rochelle came from a 12th place starting spot to take his third straight Candy Bowl victories in as many years at the end. Houdeshell finished second, followed by Stephen Nederostek, Jeff Condran and Randy Kissinger. Jeff Condran clinched his first SSP track championship with his fourth place finish.

The 20-lap Lincoln Thundercar feature Craig Wagaman jumped out to the lead from his pole position. Wagaman was able to lead all twenty laps to pick up the feature win despite a few caution flags during the event. The hard charger goes to second place finisher Smoke Christine who started in seventh and took the spot on lap 11 but was not able to take the lead from Wagaman. David Prunkl, Larry Neiberer and Ronnie Thomas rounded out the top five.

In the 12-lap Women on Wheels Stock Car feature event, Beth Burhman jumped out to the early lead until Karen Hawthorne took the lead on the second lap. Hawthorne continued to lead until the 2007 SSP W.O.W. Stock Car champion, Kendra Knaub, took the lead on lap 10 and went on for the feature victory over Hawthorne . Burhman, Kim Flanagan and Renee Luckenbaugh rounded out the top five.

The 12-lap Speedway Auto Sales Mini Van feature saw a mad dash for the lead from the 6th, 7th and 8th starting spots with Butch Richcreek (6th) taking the lead on the first lap over Mike Taft (8th) and Daryl Sipe (7th). Taft took the lead from Richcreek on lap 3 and never looked back to take the win. Sipe edged out Richcreek to pick up second. Sherry Kitner finished fourth and Jesse Hitz crossed the finish line in fifth.
