History will be made in Charlotte, NC at the Dirt Track at Lowes Motor Speedway. For the first time ever the World of Outlaws and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will be on the same card at the inaugural World of Outlaws World Finals. Champions will be crowned for both series following Saturday Night’s finales.
The inaugural Outlaws World Finals will obviously boast some of the greatest dirt track racers in the world. Included in that list of drivers will be a handful of Lernerville Track Champions and Feature winners who have pre-registered to take part in the historical event.
2008 Friedman’s Freshmarkets Late Model Track Champion Alex Ferree will pack up his Frankland Racing/ADC/Butler Pre-Owned #4Rocket Chassis and head south to do battle with a lot of the same names who invaded the Lernerville Speedway for the Inaugural Firecracker 100 and the Showdown in Sarvertown.
Awesome Alex will not be alone battling door-to-door with a who’s who of Late Model drivers. Two other former Lernerville Track Champions will blast their Rocket Chassis around the Dirt Track at Lowes Motor Speedway; 2000 Sprint Car Track Champion David Scott and 1990 Late Model Track Champion Ron Davies. David Scott long ago gave up the double duty of racing sprints and late models and is widely considered as one of the best Late Model drivers in Western Pennsylvania. Ron Davies has not been a regular at the Lernerville Speedway for quite a few years, but is still a fan favorite in the area.
Four of the area’s top sprint car drivers will also make the tow to Charlotte for the Outlaws World Finals. Four-time Lernerville Track Champion and all time sprint feature winner Ed Lynch Jr. will be on hand and looking for his second career World of Outlaws A-Main feature win. Lynch’s familiar Howard Concrete Pumping/Indy Recycling #2L is a threat to win any time he pushes off onto any race track. The 2002 Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Champion won his first career A-Main feature at the famed Eldora Speedway this summer against the All Star Circuit of Champions and would love to add the Outlaws World Finals at the Dirt Track at Lowes Motor Speedway to his Hall of Fame resume. He’ll suit up this weekend to battle the Outlaws whom invaded the Action Track for both the Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XVI and the Commonwealth Clash this season.
All Star Regulars Dale Blaney and Brian Ellenberger will also make the long haul to Lowes Motor Speedway for the inaugural Outlaws World Finals to go wheel-to-wheel with the best sprint car pilots in the world. Blaney was the 1991 Lernerville Track Champion and has been a regular on both the World of Outlaws and All Star tours for over a decade. No stranger to world class competition, Ellenberger finished seventh in the 2007 All Star Circuit of Champions Final Point Standings and won the Commercial Truck & Trailer Sprint feature at Lernerville on August 24.
Like Blaney and Ellenberger, 1993 Track Champion Tim Shaffer has moved on from the local racing scene to the national touring scene. Shaffer is currently 10th in World of Outlaws Points piloting the Casey’s General Store #6 and was the winner of the 2005 Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup XIV.
The inaugural Outlaws World Finals featuring the World of Outlaws and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series are set for November 1-3. You can partake in this historic racing weekend live in person or from the comfort of your own home. Tickets are still available for the three-day show at just $59 if you plan to make the pilgrimage to Charlotte. If you’re watching from home, the finale of the event will be broadcast LIVE on SPEED on Saturday November 3 from 8-11 p.m. Eastern.
