(Woodhull, NY) Twenty-eight nights of racing over a twenty-five weekend period with only one rainout. Two car shows and one gala banquet. What a year for second year Woodhull Raceway Track owner, Vern Wasson and it all came to a conclusion Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center at the Elmira/Corning Regional Airport in Horseheads, NY. Some 400 fans, drivers, track employees and sponsors were in attendance for the Annual Awards Ceremony where most of the tracks top point finishers and other special award recipients were on hand to accept their trophies, plaques and point fund money for a record setting season. Track announcers Shelby Button and Kenny Shupp Jr. along with Kyle Lefelhoc shared in the emcee duties after a delicious buffet dinner professional catered by Corning Catering.
The top fifteen in the final point standings in all of Woodhull’s six classes of competition received accolades as the Track Champions in each division took center stage.
The L.J. Kennedy Trucking 358 Modified Division was captured by veteran Elm Valley, NY speedster, Curt VanPelt. The former Mr. DIRT Champion came up just one point shy of a track title in 2007, but roared back in 07 to claim the top spot over his younger brother, Billy. For Captain Quick, it was his third ever Small Block Modified title.
Wayne Robertson proved that he belongs with the upper echelon in the NAPA Super Stock Division as he rode an early season surge to claim his first ever track title over last years champ, Glen Whritenour.
The inaugural season for the S&W Awards and Photos Crate Sportsman Division found one veteran and one young gun tying for the top spot in the final point tally as former 358 Modified pilots Bill Brewer and Kenny Peoples Jr. shared the championship in a class that was a mixture of both youth and veterans.
The Morgan’s Auto Repair Street Stock’s Championship was once again claimed by Dan Gordon as he was able to defend his 06 title keeping number one nemesis, Rod Mullen from capturing his first title by just a few scant points.
Art Goodier once again proved to be just too much to handle as he, like Gordon was able to defend his 2006 Track Championship. Goodier came out strong in the early part of the year and never lost the point lead from night one. Even with a late season rally by Brian Grant, Goodier was able to take the title.
Last but certainly not least the LaBarron Brothers Repair and Parts Front Wheel Drive Class crowned their Track Champion. The second year division bolstered car counts near thirty vehicles each week as Ron Daily Jr. picked-up his first ever Championship as he held off last years number one man, Kevin Patton.
